Olight Flash Sale and new Freyr

Olight Freyr LED MUlti-Color Flashlight

Every so often, I receive questions for multi-color LED flashlight recommendations.

I have tried a couple over the years, and Olight recently sent over their new Freyr. So far, I’m optimistic – it’s versatile for users who desire different color hues, and also a very solid white light flashlight as well.

Generally, this is what the different colors are used for:

White: everyday illumination
Red: helps to preserves night vision
Blue: useful for reading maps and charts at night
Green: believed to not disturb wildlife during hunting activities

Blue light can also help with contrast, such as when tracking blood trails.

The Freyr is on sale right now at Olight at introductory pricing during their flash sale.

Time is short, but I can try to answer any questions you might have, and if not now then in time for the next promo.

And… That’s All

Yes, a lot of online retailers started the holiday season early this year, but they also seem to have ended it early. Weak.

There are still some “special buys” worth looking at.

Morakniv Craftline Pro S Utility Knife

For example, the Mora Craftline Pro S made-in-Sweden workshop knife is still on sale for $10.89. I just got mine in. Buy yours here.

“a lot of online retailers started the holiday season early this year, but they also seem to have ended it early”

I noticed the same thing here in Canada. Home Depot has had the same flyer for about four weeks now, for example.

No real “doorbusters” from the big box stores either – perhaps for obvious reasons, but I thought maybe there’d be some limited quantity items to drive online sales.

I can’t complain too much., some of the deals have been decent – just none reaching the level where I bought something I didn’t already have my eye on.

Agreed. The best deals season ever on the red tool from HD was in 2018, where they threw out free 5.0 batteries and tools with great pricing!

The delivery services are stretched the max, and have been running at capacity since COVID moved a lot of shopping online. UPS is actively turning away business, and keeping customers to quotas. I personally just saw a UPS driver in a UHaul rent a truck delivering packages. Some people have suggested they’ve seen the same with personal vehicles.

Rental trucks is typical for the holiday season – it hasn’t been uncommon for FedEx and UPS to deliver in unmarked trucks and vans in the past.

I was in HD today for the first time in a couple weeks and was absolutely shocked that the holiday cardboard main aisle stocker things with gift items were approx 50% removed from what I remember them being in early Nov. ALL of their holiday decorations, trees, lights, etc were gone and that area was being restaged (looked like shelving and totes), and the general feel was not… “holiday.” Never saw it like this BEFORE Christmas. It felt like mid-January. What a weird year it’s been.

Scratch that last post; I found the next size up of the irwin pliers for $5.83 each. 4 Ordered. These have a 2 1/8″ jaw opening; the ones for $7 only have an opening of 1 5/8″. Spend less, get more capacity.

I almost pulled the trigger on the Olight Freyr but decided against it…. mainly because I decided to order a Para 3 yesterday instead. Since there were no tools on my list this year, it’s been all about knives and lights this year. Yes, they are both considered tools….both in a different category. The Freyr had everything I wanted except I wasn’t crazy about the 25 and 30 lumens when using in one of the color modes. I’m not a lumen fanatic. Most of the high output lights are only able to produce those intensely high lumens for only a few minutes. I do really like the tail switch for the white light use., though. To be able to charge with the magnetic charger through the tail switch is an awesome feature. If I wouldn’t have just bought an S2R Baton and i5t a few weeks ago, I probably would have jumped on it…. especially the bundle that comes with the i3t T for about $100.

I’m getting “cannot arrive before Christmas” notices from the usual places – which means the last gasp may be in-store at some locations.

Perhaps a post-new years clearance will materialize.

Hart Organizer Tool Box: $14.86 – this is a regular price at Walmart, I believe. These boxes are hard to find though (out of stock most of the time), at least in the stores close to where I was in spring-summer-fall of this year. When these same tool boxes were available at Home Depot, with Husky branding, their price was around $10.

The Husky one is also $15.

There’s a $10 Husky organizer, but it’s smaller. The $10 Husky is only available in-store, the $15 one similar to the Hart isn’t available at all.

      Husky 10-Compartment Organizer: $10
      Husky 8-Compartment Organizer: $15

The second one shows at $10.47 but as a limited-stock. I think I paid that much last time I grabbed couple boxes in-store, but had to drive to a specific store, farther from home than several other stores.

Is the Husky 10 bin organizer the same as Milwaukee but in black instead of red?

Good deal compared to Milwaukee $24.

I love the Milwaukee box. Pre PackOut. Great size!

      No.

As far as I am aware, Milwaukee has exclusive control over their designs and so other brands cannot put their name on the same products.

If you are subscribed to the daily newsletter and it’s not coming through, I can look into it.

To date, 100% of the complaints I have received were because subscribers opted for the weekly newsletter subscription and not the daily subscription option.

If you are unable to change your subscription settings (there is a link at the bottom of every email), I can do it for you.

      We’ve talked about this before:

      August: https://toolguyd.com/tool-deal-email-notifications-update-2020/

      November: https://toolguyd.com/tool-deal-email-subscription-reminder-112020/

I am not allowed to send more emails than you signed up for.

I issued a reminder a month ago, with mention that subscribers could change to daily frequently for the holiday season and change back to weekly after, depending on their preferences.

I am sorry you missed out, but what would have had me do?
