Hmm, that HD deal has m18 brushless 6 1/2 circular kit (5.0 + charger) for $199, and also the tool-only saw with free 5.0 for $219. Does a human at HD even look at these deals?

One deal is a discrete SKU mirroring the “buy a starter kit, get a free tool” promo, and the other looks to be a “buy a bare tool, get a free battery” promo.

It seems silly when shown on the same deal page, but some people will inevitably buy the lesser-valued deal.

Consider this promo display from last year, which I posted about on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/CWCCd9BLgUb/

On the left, an M12 cordless screwdriver kit, with tool, 2x 1.5Ah batteries, charger, and bag. On the right: 2x 1.5Ah batteries. Both were priced at $69.

The batteries were sold out while the cordless screwdriver kit remained. Go figure.

I would definitely get the screwdriver deal, but I think there are like two reasons you get the batteries only. One is they came for batteries and didn’t even look at the screwdriver combo, or if they did, didn’t notice it had 2 batteries. The other is people who didn’t need the screwdriver and considered it wasteful to take it, or inconsiderate when someone else might. I’ve heard people mske these types of remarks…

I can tell you why people skipped the screwdriver, because the picture only shows one battery. And if batteries was your main reason for buying you might not even pick up the screwdriver box to check it’s contents.

It’s common for kits to show one battery attached to a tool and a separate spare next to it.

Lol, I didn’t even notice the one attached to it. Surely other consumers are as unobservant as me? 🙂

The Woot and Home Depot CDK2100K2 deal (a DCD 999 hammer drill, DCF 887 Impact driver, a fast charger, and 2 5AH 20V batteries) would be a lot more compelling if it had even one Flexvolt 60V/20V battery. That DCD 999 Flexvolt drill is much nicer with 60V driving it. Certainly don’t need that power for most tasks, but when you do, it’s bragging rights to drop that on the counter and say, “looky here what I got Boys.”

The MW 3000 lumen packout light bundle deal with a 5.0 starter kit at $199 total looks to be a standout deal here. I just bought it, thinking I’ll be able to run it with my Dewalt 4.0/5.0 batts along with a cheap $15 battery adapter. I use m12 tools and have a nice packout setup, but I don’t use any Milwaukee 18v products. Looking forward to seeing if my Dewalt adaptation bet will payoff.

I’ll be selling off the MW 5.0 starter kit for maybe $120 or so, so that packout light will be about $100 my cost… Extra bonus if I can fit the Dewalt 8.0 battery along with the battery adapter too, but looks to be a no brainer on the smaller 5.0 batts.

Or just return them for the amount listed on the receipt, $113 in my case for light and router.
Last kit on the shelf,so carried all 3 to customer service.
Bought and returned kit twice, and store still had inventory.
