Craftsman Bolt-On System

Lastly, for today at least, there’s a box full of Craftsman 20V Max Bolt-On modular tools, plus some Black & Decker Matrix tool heads that I was able to pack into the box.

I won’t be including a battery pack, but I did manage to cram the charger into the box. You’ll need a Craftsman 20V Max or Black & Decker 20V Max battery pack, which I tested just now to be compatible.

(Black & Decker manufactured the Craftsman 20V Max Bolt-On products. I tested the charger with a B&D battery, and it seems to work, and the B&D battery powers the Craftsman handle.)

If you don’t already have Craftsman Bolt-On or Black & Decker Matrix tools or power sources, we will BUY you one.

If you want a corded handle, I will BUY you a Black & Decker Matrix drill/driver. If you want a 20V Max battery pack, I will BUY you a Black & Decker 1.5Ah battery – just tell me which option you prefer.

Notes:

Some of the tools have been in deep storage. The rubbery grip material might have bloomed and be in need of a good cleaning.

Batteries are NOT included, but see above.

  4. I had never even heard of the bolt-on system before today but would put the circ-saw and router to work immediately. What a novel concept.

  5. While i think I would prefer the jobmax giveaway this does have some other tools that would be useful. I don’t have any B&D or craftsman tools right now (I would wan the battery) so it would be interesting to see out they stood up to higher ends tools.

  10. I just purchased a B&D Matrix corded drill with the impact driver attachment. I seems no one makes a corded 1/4 impact driver anymore. I would love to give these a loving home to keep my new drill company.

  11. I never even saw this one, similar idea to the rigid, but the jigsaw and air pump, I might buying this if I don’t win it. I would need the battery to go with it.

    But does the corded version have more power compared to the battery, It’d be nice if they just made a corded battery adapter instead of needing a separate motor too.

  14. The bolt-on tools are great. I have some of them and have used them constantly. Some of them are starting to wear out and others I never owned. I was disappointed that Craftsman discontinued that line – I found out when I went into Sears to purchase some additional pieces and they no longer had them. If I had known that they were going away, I would have bought them.

  29. Would love to upgrade from m,y 15 year old Ryobi One+ blue system, to get into the 20V li-ion. Had to buy new batts a few years ago, but even new ones don’t seem to last long.

  30. I’m surprised at how well these tools performed for me when I did own them. I think I had all the attachments, including hedge trimmer which is one I can’t recommend. For most things around the house, you will be happy with it. The 2 things I remember, are you will need something else to cut 2×4’s & I wish the sawzall had a little more power. I had both the battery & AC bases, which worked out great when working with others or know you will eat the battery up oscillating or such.

    I also got a B&D backpack sprayer which utilizes the same battery as Stuart mentioned, so not hard to get batteries for. The fast charger included in the set is a must have for tool use though, otherwise you might end up with https://toolguyd.com/black-decker-charger-shorted-out/

  34. I need to replace dying cordless tools in the garage.

  35. I have a black and decker corderd matrix body and drill head I use constantly. I’ve been using mostly corded tools on jobsites recently as my batteries kept walking away from my toolbox or we didn’t have time to adequately charge everything.

    The B&D impact head is just about the only corded impact driver you can get, it performs fantastic. I am usually doing boat interiors or finish work so I don’t often get into impact mode and just use the drill head, but for the times I need it it is invaluable.

    I use a mouse sander all the time so the sanding head would be a space saver, likewise with the sawzall head. Climbing around docks and yachts the less to move the better. I’m not usually doing major demo or sanding on site so using these heads with my existing corded base would be a nice space saver.

  36. I have been thinking of upgrading to the 20V platform and would need the battery pack to go with it, but you are being so generous, it would seem selfish to ask you to buy it. I’d pass on the battery pack.

  37. This Craftsman Bolt-On set wouldn’t just take up space at my house. I would use it weekly on my industrial maintenance job and for home repairs.

  84. There are some really handy tools in there. I use a lot of 1/8″ hardboard for floor protection and that little saw is just the thing. I use my laminate trimmer at least weekly to ease the edge of trim, how convenient would it be to do it cordless? Another multi saw and detail sander will definitely see some use. Cordless jigsaw? Just thing for cutting in valves in Wedi.

  85. This set Is like the ridgid jobmax but just craftsman. This would be a good everything set because it’s all cordless and you get all the tools you need at a cheaper price than if you were to buy the other tools alone.

  88. This is a really cool utility concept for power tools, It might be the precedent for what’s to come for all brands. I’m an diehard craftsman fan and i’ve never owned craftsman power tools.

  89. My first power tool was a refurbished 20v max black and Decker drill and I was fascinated with the possibilities of the bolt on expansions but forgot them when the drill but the dust. Much like the jobmax set, the bolt on set would be perfect for storing on site at the commercial building I maintain. I don’t always have a lot of tools on me when I’m in the neighborhood and have been thinking about a budget set to keep available.

  163. The mini circular saw attachment in this system has always grabbed my attention for the purposes of sheet goods cutting or making tight cuts in attics on my remodel jobs.

I was going to purchase a 12v Bosch drill and give her my spare charger and battery, but this Craftsman set would be so much better. Since she is a novice, she would get a lot of use from a set like this.

  219. I would love to craftsman tools that can do many things and I forget I had some B&D drills, saw, flash light , that would go nice with them. You can never have enough tools.

While I might consider keeping this set, the best use for it would likely to give it to my very handy and very creative teenage sister who already has a B&D 20V drill and is always looking to build or create something up on the family farm. The wide variety of tool heads would be put to very good use but she wouldn’t need an entire rolling tool box to store them in.
