It’s that time of year again – time to stock up on Dewalt ToughSystem cases, T-Stak cases, and Bosch L-Boxxes.
Amazon and other retailers are running their $25 off $100+ promos, which make this the best time to order a bunch of these toolboxes. If you don’t need a whole stack of new toolboxes and just need one or two, then the $25 off $100+ promo can also be used on a wide range of Bosch and Dewalt tools and accessories.

ToughSystem cases (review) are great for heavy duty tool transport and storage, Tstak cases offer great bang for the buck, and L-Boxxes (reviewed here, and also compared to ToughSystem boxes) are the most versatile for tool organizational needs.
I have bought many Dewalt ToughSystem and Bosch L-Boxxes over the years (mostly during holiday promo periods like this one), and find the former to be perfect for bigger and bulkier tools and the latter to be great for hand tools, smaller power tools, and supplies.

All of these product lines are eligible for the $25 off $100+ discount, but they must be sold and shipped directly by Amazon. Other dealers are also participating in similar promos, such as CPO.
Just to clarify, the toolboxes are eligible for Amazon’s separate $25 off $100+ Dewalt and $25 off $100+ Bosch select tool and accessory promos. They don’t combine, meaning you cannot add $50 in Dewalt products and $50 in Bosch products to get the discount.

I keep hoping that the overall price of the L-Boxxes will come down more during this season and then be able to add the discount. I don’t have a pressing need, though.

I’ve been trying for months to get my boss to buy these to get our box trucks organized. But noooooo. He’d rather buy cheap crap that breaks in a day

More l-boxxes are great, but I’m curious how I can make better use of my existing ones. The pick and pluck foam seems to be a ripoff. Anyone found good foam or other ways to keep tools and their accessories relatively in place inside the l-boxxes?
mikedt
maybe the spray foam technique: http://madmodder.net/index.php?topic=4770.0

that’s awesome – probably a little trickier than the pictures reflect but still pretty cool

buy kaizen foam from fastcap. It is way, way, way better than the bosch pick n pluck junk (which is both expensive and worthless for shaping)
John
FastCap Kaizen Foam is supposed to be really good for this. I picked up a couple of sheets for organizing some L-Boxxes and Tanos Mini Systainers but just haven’t gotten around to fitting my tools to them yet – maybe this winter.

I just ordered a bunch of the specific inserts for the l-boxx’s from my local Lowes. The inserts are now in the latest catalogs.
John S
Frank – where did you find such a catalog?
Jamie
I’d like to know where the trays were found too. I have a few 12v Bosch tools I’d like to put into the l-boxx.

The new ridgid boxes may be a cheaper alternative. I have systainers but purchased several of the ridgid boxes. They are holding up well and have made my truck much neater. They could use a few more sizes though.

Too bad there’s no sale on the Ridgid boxes. I have a couple as well as some Toughboxes and L-Boxxs and they seem tough enough to hang with the big boys. Plus, the large Ridgid box is the only box I’ve found that my porta-band will fit into. Large Toughbox, not quite. Large L-Boxx, not even close.
Jason
The value in the Ridgid system is you don’t have to buy a cart. The large box does that for you. Any of the other system the box prices are not bad but what they want for the cart is insane. That’s why I went with the Ridgid Toolboxes.

Last year Amazon put the toughsystem boxes on sale at the same time as the $25 off $100 promotion so i was able to pick up boxes at a really great price – hoping they will do the same this year
Dan
Bought 4 L boxes already, 2 from amazon, but shipping and import taxes makes them less of a deal, and 2 no2 from a supplier I use that put a load on sale that were from combo kits they have split up. I’m up to 6 festool/ Tanos boxes now as well.
But it's me!
To add to my collection, I picked up some remanufactured L-Boxx 2 units at CPO last month, saving $17 each, plus free shipping. I assume some were part of tool returns, as they certainly do not have noticeable wear. Definitely interested in the new Ridgid boxes for my next stack, however.
