Dear Sirs;
I’m trying to find a specific tool, and I need some help. The tool I’m looking for is a wrench that looks very similar to a crescent wrench. However, instead of a worm gear adjustment for the jaws it has a spring and pivot arrangement, which when you slide your thumb up under the jaws, they open in a parallel fashion and as you back off after the initial tightening pull it allows the jaws to open and walk the work, on it’s way to the next pull. Any ideas??? I’d appreciate any help.
Stuart
Hi John, are you talking about the Crescent Slide Wrench? Or the Knipex Pliers Wrench, which is the only tool I can think of that fits the “pivot” description.
Patrick
“Jaws to open and walk the work” sounds like a ratcheting wrench, which reminds me of the Bostich ratcheting wrench.

Probably not it, but I hope it helps.
Stuart
That’s a possibility too. I didn’t think of the Bostitch because I don’t consider it an adjustable wrench. I was going to buy one for review, but after trying it in-store I already made up my mind about it.

I recall thay you had a post about the Sears “clench” style wrench – which looked like a smooth jaw version of the older Crescent “Master” wrench and Weil “Adjustamatic” It has a spring-loaded jaw – and a ratcheting-like feature
Stuart
The Craftsman clench wrench might fit the bill, thanks for the reminder! Although it doesn’t have “parallel elements,” this style of wrench does have that spring-action lever near the fixed jaw that can be used to open the jaws.

I know the exact tool that you are referring to. It is an adjustable wrench made by Cresent brand it is an amazing tool when i saw it for sale at our nearby hardware store. Exactly as you describe with a sliding action along it’s handle to adjust it’s jaws. awsom tool simple and smart. Why did i not thought about this idea before. bye.
