The Victorinox Classic SD Swiss Army Knife is a small but useful keychain-sized multi-tool that’s available in a wide range of colors. Every year Victorinox comes out with a couple of limited edition graphics, and the 2019 theme is “favorite foods from around the world.”
Generally, the special editions cost a couple of dollars more. I personally feel that they’re worth it if a design especially catches my attention.

I reviewed a robot-themed Victorinox Classic a few years ago.
One of the new themes for 2019 features bananas. Yes, bananas. I found it to be incredibly amusing, so much so IĀ had to post about it immediately.
All of the new designs are kind of silly and fun.
- Bananas
- Chili Peppers
- Gingerbread People
- Sardines
- Popcorn
- Tacos
- “When Life Gives You Lemons”
- “Swiss Mountain Dinner”
- “Alps Cheese”
- Neon Burger Bar
Each tool comes with the usual implements:

Where’s the steak one? Or Buffalo Wings?

Great idea honestly. Swiss army knives are already the knives least likely to raise an eyebrow in a public or office setting. Adding fun designs just enhances the perception that these are fun key-chain decorations rather than menacing weapons.

Up in Seattle they’ve gotten quite strict about these sorts of things. I’ve carried a midnight manager version of this for years, but over the last year I’ve been turned away in the security line at both a soccer and football game for having it. How the F is a 1.5 inch blade a security risk – for what? It’s really getting crazy these days.

Love these designs, wish they did them in the Rambler model, really nice to have a Phillips/bottle opener and wire stripper in basically the same form factor as the SD
Adabhael
Agreed. The Rambler is the best.

Are the scales of the Classic SD and the Rambler the same size? According to YouTube, apparently it’s not too hard to swap scales š

cute, but now I’m hungry.

Hard pass.

This would be a cool present if you had any friends living in Croatia.
Love the designs.

So they can come out with an ADDITIONAL 10+ scales for the Classic, which already comes in a slew of colors, but they can’t put any color scales other than RED on knives like the Hiker and Fieldmaster?
Just adding black and hi-viz yellow to the whole lineup would be a nice start. They already have the scales, they already have the knives. Just put the two together and they have more millions selling and rolling in the dough.

+1000. Hi-vis yellow would be great!!!
