Wera has recently come out with new rainbow color-coded hex and Torx L-key driver sets, similar to what PB Swiss has been doing for a while now. This makes size identification easier, once you get used to the color code.
Instead of a colored plating or finish, the L-keys are color-coded with plastic sleeves that feature high contrast easy-to-read markings. The L drivers themselves feature a corrosion-resistant BlackLaser surface treatment.

The 9pc metric set (05073593001) includes 1.5, 2.0. 2.5, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 8.0, and 10.0 mm sizes. One end of each hex driver has a ball hex tip, which allows for easier fastener access, and the other has a hex-plus straight hex tip for higher torque applications.

The hex-plus tip is shaped to provide greater contact with fasteners, which helps to reduce rounding and stripping.

Wera Torx L-Keys
The 9pc Torx set (05073599001) includes T8, T9, T10, T15, T20, T25, T27, T30, and T40 sizes. Except for the 3 smallest sizes, each Torx key features a ball tip on the long end for improved fastener access, and a tamper-proof straight tip on the short end. This means that the drivers can be used on regular or tamper-proof Torx fasteners.

T8 and T9 drivers do not have ball tips on the long end or a tamper-proof tip on the short end; both ends are straight. The T10 driver has a tamper-proof tip on the short end, but no ball tip on the long end.

Both sets are already available in Europe, and it looks like they will soon be available in the USA.

I grabbed the non-color coded hex set a while back for an absolute steal. Now I am kinda wishing I had the color coded ones, but I think I will be ok 🙂

The color-coded ones are better for easier identification. Great that it comes in sets so that it will be used for any sized hex bolt. I wonder how much these things cost considering that they are a decent bunch.

Chad’s is selling them for $30.01 for the hex set and $38.49 for the Torx set.

I just want to say that I am totally sold on the Hex-Plus design. I work with these nearly every day and have yet to strip the head of a socket head screw using these. I noticed that McMaster Carr is selling them individually (not the color-coded ones).
