Wera Canada Screwdriver and Bottle Opener Set

Wera has come out with a new limited edition Kraftform tool set, featuring a screwdriver and a bottle opener, and in Canadian red-and-white color scheme.

There are actually 2 special sets – one has a Phillips #2 screwdriver, and the other has a square #2 screwdriver.

Finally, something special for our Canadian readers! It’s not a deal, or a special promo, but I knew I had to post about this as soon as I saw it.

Wera Canada Screwdriver and Bottle Opener Set Box Contents

I have to admit, this is pretty cool. It’s a bit pricey, at $19 per set, but not unattainable. Plus, it can be very convenient to have an extremely popular screwdriver size/style in a different color scheme – it makes it that much easier to find and reach for in a tool bag or drawer.

Use coupon code TOOLGUYD4LIFE to save 10%. That brings it down to what, $17?

I’ve purchased Wera screwdrivers and bottle openers as part of other sets and individually, and really enjoy using them. There are times when the handle shape isn’t ideal, but I usually find it to be perfectly comfortable.

If this is Canada why isn’t this a square drive?

What do you mean? As mentioned in the post, there are two options, one with Phillips, one with square.

Swiss, Denmark, Poland flags are also red and white. So all they have to do is print a different box.

Looks like they are shipping it in different boxes. For $23 you can get this in the UK https://www.amazon.co.uk/1-FC-Union-Berlin-Opener/dp/B07J2RRG7W/

Why does it seem every screwdriver set these days comes with a bottle opener? I’d be MUCH more willing to spend $20 if the set had just the two screwdrivers. I understand many like to have a cold one after a days work, but I’d rather spend the money towards another screwdriver than another bottle opener. After all I already have several bottle openers from other screwdriver sets, plus one on just about every multi tool I own, plus most of my multi blade pocketknives, plus my keychain, plus attached to the cooler, plus in my BBQ kit, plus on the side of my grill. I don’t drink, so all I see are a couple dozen tools I bought for no reason other than they were “included” with something else I bought.

And for those of us who do drink beer, even with all these bottle openers around it’s still tough to find one when you need it.

I always thought us “real” Canadians just opened the bottle with another (with a lid still on it), and if it came down to the last one, our teeth.

You don’t need a bottle opener. Fine. Don’t buy it. Please don’t try to ruin it for those of us who are sick of cheesy crap, and enjoy having quality bottle openers. I am getting a little tired of seeing, “I don’t need X myself, so never offer it again” on forums. I don’t type that, and I see no reason for anyone else to do so.

Every tool is a bottle opener. Unless it’s a chisel. I would never use a chisel to open a bottle.

I still think the Robertson set should have a glossy sillhouette of a Moose on it. That square drive doesn’t get much more Canadian than that, and the Moose is also a main beer mascott up North here.

So, the REALLY, REALLY Canadian set should get more over-the-top Canadian packaging.

Yes, I’m aware Square and Robertson are not “EXACTLY” the same. But it’s so close as to be ridiculous. No, I don’t drink alcohol of any sort, no I don’t like that tool companies still feel the need to release bottle openers, and I DEFINITELY oppose the trend of Geeky/Nerdy companies joining in on the Bottle-Opener frenzy.

All of that said… Despite it sickening me (I don’t mean morally, I’m half Native-American, I’m hyper-sensitive to Alchohol, so it is dangerous around me.) the fact that our Beer is stronger in Canada, the fact that we have at LEAST three national brands with a Moose involved in the name or mascott, and the fact that the Moose is probably the MOST Loved of all the Canadian National Animals… I think our National Pride should match our National Screwdriver… the Robertson Square Bit set should have a Moose sillhouette on the box. That set would definitely scream “CANADA!!!” if you did that. Make it the kind of thing you give out to visiting diplomats, or something you buy when you’ve got friends from the ‘States visiting you for the first time. “Here’s your souvenir Canadian gift set. Get to know the Flag, the Noble Moose, and keep your Robertson ready at all times when you think of us… oh… and we’ll be sending you home with a 2-4 of something strong enough to make the Moose on the box talk the more you use the bottle opener. Enjoy!”

Waiting for the Youtuber AvE to proudly display some of these. He’s a Canaderp (as he puts it) and likes Wera from what I remember.
