Wiha has launched GoStack, which they describe as a revolutionary storage system.
Wiha GoStack was designed to be “stronger. smarter. built to last.”
It looks GoStack is a limited line of connectable accessory cases that are bundled with the same Wiha Terminator Blue screwdriver bits and power tool accessories already sold at Lowe’s.

Wiha says that their new accessory sets will also be sold at Lowe’s.

Features include computer-controlled heat treatment (as if this wasn’t the de facto standard for modern screwdriver bits), a magnetic bit holder, and impact-rated design for use with impact power drills.
As shown, GoStack cases latch together.
There’s a “no hassle guarantee,” where Wiha says they will repair or replace your purchase within 12 months for any reason. However, under the fine print exclusions:
Wiha Tools has the right to exclude Bits, Tweezers, and Ceramic Screwdrivers. These products are either consumable or worn easily.
So far, there are 3 bit sets, each priced at $29.98 at the time of this posting.

- 24pc (bits with nut drivers) – Buy it at Lowe’s
- 36pc (insert and power bits) – Buy it at Lowe’s

Frankly, I don’t see what’s “revolutionary” about another proprietary stacking bit storage case.
These look to be the same bits that Wiha has been selling at Lowe’s stores, but packaged in the new style of case.

But just look how happy that magnetic bit holder is.
Maybe there’s something I’m missing. Here’s the launch video:

I agree, there’s no revolution underway, but the cases look fine though.
Jason
The only way any plastic case is ‘built to last’ is eternity in landfill. And I don’t see anything ‘revolutionary’ here either.
Nathan
Well there is no stacking case system that comes made to hole wila bits. Right? Reminds me of Bosch some.
While I don’t right off find issue with it I’m not drawn towards having to have them. Would love a basic case that I could fill myself
Matt_T
I think the cases latching together is what’s supposed to be “revolutionary”. Might be a first for bit cases of this size?
Looks like they’ll work with any bits which is a plus. I’ve got a small Wiha bit set that’ll only work with the blue bits….
They do look a bit like the Bosch cases and also appear to be customizable like the Bosch ones. Not a bad thing.
Archer
I think the equivalent Klein sets, which have been out for a while, also latch together in the way these do. I only have one so I can’t test it but it looks like it’s designed that way and the marketing seems to be saying they do.
Mike
“These products are either consumable or worn easily.” Aren’t we looking for drill bits that DON’T wear easily?
D3t
I think they a referring to screwdriver bits, not drill bits(drills).
Bonnie
Does such a thing exist? Any cutting edge dulls with use, by it’s fundamental nature. Even diamond cutters wear out.
fred
Also, this may be one of those “be careful what you wish for” sort of thing. A bit that is too soft and wears prematurely and may also leave worn off tiny pieces of itself behind is not a good thing – and can be a QA issue in some critical applications. A bit that is so hard that it hardly wears – might tear up the fastener at its engagement point if driving torque is out of spec or engagement angle or fit is poor. That’s another QA issue. Some happy medium is what’s wanted and bits do need to be inspected and trashed when appropriate

Milwaukee ran into that problem a few years ago with their “indestructible” bits. The silver ones.
What they found is if you give a bunch of tool people something that’s ‘indestructible’, they’ll find the limit.
Milwaukee ended up pulling the line over the bad press from all the hardcore users blatantly abusing the tips and then claiming Milwaukee lied.
I still have some. I really like them. They’re harder and do last longer. Maybe not indestructible, but still one of the better longer lasting bits. Just a failure in marketing.

Milwaukee Matrix Carbide was designed for applications where tip wear is the mode of failure – soft joint applications such as drywall screws. People were using them for all work, including high torque hard joint applications and they were breaking.

evolution = Bosch like apparently…

Is it me of those images look like they took it right off the 3D printer?
Doresoom
The only thing I see that could remotely resemble 3D printed is the last image, but what looks like a layer line on the gray part at the bottom could just be the parting line.
The first few images with the gray inserts show sink marks though, which you’ll only get with injection molding. Plus you’re going to be hard pressed to get 3D prints that optically clear.
MattT
I agree. It’s like they used prototypes for these marketing photos.
Oleg K
Everything, everybody makes is revolutionary, will “change the way you work”, will “redefine everything” but it always ends up being a disappointment, at best.
Bonnie
I think that’s you. What 3d printer prints clear acrylic that perfectly flat?
The only thing with even slight lines is the grey insert, and to my eye that looks like it could just be tooling lines from the metal injection mold.
Matt
Yes, very me too. Just riding the staking case bandwagon.
Frank D.
Looks like a mixture of maybe Bosch with some rotating system on the holders and maybe some kind of linking like Dewalt or Craftsman.

Lowe’s had up to recently, been selling some Wiha bit sets at practically liquidation prices. So I was wondering what the replacements would be. And now that I have some, the Wiha bits have actually been impressing me. So I can see myself picking up one of these boxed sets when it’s part of a Black Friday or holiday promotion. The sets, whether the old ones or new ones, do a nice job of giving you all the drive bits you would need to do most any construction job, without unnecessary clutter. I currently have one of the small bit check style sets, screwed to a 2×4 right now. And I always have the bits I need, where I need them.
TomD
Someone forgot that not all revolutions succeed.
I’d be a bit more interested if the top one could have a handle.
Nathan
I guess to clarify. Sell me the empty case for like 7 dollars. Anybody. No bits I have some. DeWalt and Bosch both have a decent case with those keyed rails you can repositions and etc. Great. No I don’t want to pay 30 for some more bits I don’t need. I just want 2 to 3 cases and I’ll position my own gob of 1 and 2 and 3 inch bits. K thanks
jake
@Nathan, I remember a post a few years ago by Stuart about empty Milwaukee customizable accessory cases and row inserts. Were they stackable?
@Stuart, do you know of other brand offerings of empty cases and inserts in case the red one’s don’t meet Nathan’s needs?
Nathan
Thanks you I might have missed that. Stackable is not a need for me
jake
I found the post….

jake
Stuart lists the empty cases and inserts at the bittom of his post.
jake
5 different case sizes $7-15 ea, inserts $5 for 5ea
Nathan
Thank you didn’t see that before.
Matt_T
IIRC Bosch have sold the empty cases and might still do. But they were priced to where you might as well buy sets and throw away the bits you don’t need.
One nice thing about these Wiha sets is they do have a decent amount of useful bits. A lot of sets are mostly insert length filler.
Vards Uzvards

$5.28 per small organizer right now.
Nathan
It doesn’t have any holders though.
LE
Yea I’d love to be able to buy some nice, non pre labeled cases for bits. These look nice and granted these Whia bits are some of my favorite but I’m pretty sure I have more impact bits then I’ll ever use in my life at this point. Especially ph2/t25/sq2.
CMF
These look a lot like the Klein KNECT boxes concept. (idea not look the same)
Stuart, “So far, there are 3 bit sets”…did they mention that there would be other sets coming?
Stuart
Not that I’ve seen. I think there’s the potential for more.
Charles
It might be only me, but I don’t see the draw of stackable cases. I never know what is in them and you have to unstack them to find what you need.
And Ike there’s have said, these look like the Bosch cases that were all the rave a few years ago.
Everybody and their brother has small stackable cases.
I couple of cases that stack bottom to bottom so you can see and get to everything might be useful, but I bet that’s out there.
Stuart
I don’t think it’s about what end users want, but what Wiha was able to sell to Lowe’s.
Archer
My local Lowe’s just sprouted a pretty big Wiha section within the last month or so, they’re like half of the driver bit area. (Though not the overall selection since they’ve got Klein, DeWalt, etc. in their own areas.) I think these sets are already on the shelf there, seems like it from a quick check of the website.
Not sure these sets deserve much fanfare, but I do like seeing stuff like this at Lowe’s, I’m not sure how it’ll work out but I think it makes sense for them to lean a little more into these “enthusiast” and specialty trades kinds of brands (something they’ve also clearly been doing with their heavy focus on Klein lately) given HD’s lock on the general construction market.
scott taylor
Lowes around me has clearance out all of the Bosch stuff at great prices, less than 20 cents a 1in insert and 40 cents for 2 and 3 inch inserts. Now I know why, wiha is coming to town, just wait 9 months and Lowes will clearance them out for the next new thing 🙂
Pops
I get that it’s mostly a legacy fastener, but I work on too many old houses and furniture to buy a bit set that doesn’t include *any* slotted bits.
