Woodcraft 170 Piece Drill Bit Sets

Now through the end of October, Woodcraft’s 170 piece TiN coated HSS twist and brad point drill bit sets are discounted by 50%. Each set includes 19 sizes from 1/16″ to 3/8″ with 5-10 bits of each size.

The brad point drill bit set is $40 on sale, and the twist bit set is $45. Shipping is free. I wouldn’t expect these bits to be top-quality, but they should be decent enough for use on wood.

I have the brad point set, and it is nice to have a big supply of brad point bits for such a low price (particularly since you are unlikely to sharpen a brad point bit). The set has more of the small bits than the large, but that is good because it is the small bits that you are most likely to snap in half (or is that just me?).

How would you rate the sharpness/grind quality of the bits?

I don’t get coated bits for general use; one resharpening and the magic’s gone. I can see it as an advantage for brad points, tho.
