I spoke with our friends at Zoro Tools this morning, and they spilled the beans that they will be having a Flash Sale tomorrow in the early afternoon.
On 3/11/2014, from 11am to 2pm CST, use coupon code READYSET30 to save 30% off your order (maximum savings of $2,000).

If you miss the Flash Sale window, coupon code STILLTIME15 takes 15% off ($2,000 max discount) throughout the end of the day.
So let’s recap – tomorrow, between 11am and 2pm CST, you can save 30% off your order.
(Yippie!)
Zoro Tools is a Grainger company that tends to have small sales a couple of times each month and huge sales like this every couple of months. There’s free shipping on orders of $50+, and their customer service team is friendly and helpful.
Their website isn’t perfect, but it’s functional and relatively easy to navigate once you get the gist of it.
I have placed 15 orders with Zoro thus far (as shown in the screen capture), and intend to take advantage of tomorrow’s sale if I can.

I plan to order some linear motion components, Pomona test leads, and possibly another DC power supply.
For those that are planning to take advantage of the sale, what will you buy?

I did a quick look at some Panduit items that I want for an upcoming wiring project – and the 30% off makes Zoro the best deal I can find on the Internet. Thanks for the heads up – even though I’ll probably get an email tomorrow – I might have missed it. Also it seems curious that its 11 to 2 CST not CDT

Thanks for the heads up! I’m going to buy some Bosch L-BOXX carrying cases. I can always use more and 30% off is a great savings. http://www.zorotools.com/g/Carrying%20Cases/00150948/None

I didn’t know they carried L-Boxxes!! I don’t need any more right now, but this is good to know for the future!

1 FLIR E4 inbound. First order with Zoro, hope it works out.
Stuart
Nice!
When I ordered my E4, Zoro didn’t carry it, so I had to pay *shudder* full retail.
Ben
I had to use Search to find it. FLIR keeps a pretty tight leash on prices. I hope nobody is watching and this one makes it through. Hope the door hasn’t been shut on the firmware thing.
fred
From comments I see on Amazon the firmware has been shut:

Stuart
Yes, it looks like that’s the story on the EEVBlog as well.
Maybe/hopefully Zoro has some with the older firmware. Even if not, it’s still a heck of a good thermal imaging camera for the money.

One Fein MultiMaster Oscillating Tool Kit in bound. Also first order from ZORO. Had trouble finding the kit, but a quick call later, I got the ZORO part number. Even though this is a corded kit, it is listed under cordless tools. http://www.zorotools.com/g/00145881/k-G5072042/

30% saved a chunk of change. Thanks for the heads up!
Adam
please post if this happens in the future. I won’t buy anything except milk if it isn’t on sale.
I try to visit the site at least once a week, but i visited on the wrong day this week. next time…
Stuart
I will certainly try to. I posted about this deal as early as I could, within minutes of talking with our friends at Zoro.
For smaller purchases, I typically won’t wait for a Zoro sale as the better deals are infrequent and unpredictably spaced out throughout the year. If Zoro doesn’t offer the best pricing with a small discount, or if I need something sooner, I go with McMaster Carr or another supplier.
For larger orders for equipment I don’t need immediately, I also typically wait for 20%, 25%, and 30%-off sales.
ToolGuyd’s deal section has two RSS feed options – a built-in one, and a Feedburner one that will eventually be shut down. Potentially, you could use this to receive notifications whenever a deal is posted.
Additionally, there is a daily newsletter which is automatically sent out and contains headlines of all posts published before 11am that day and after 11:01am the day before.
The mentioned RSS feed would be your best option at getting timely specific deal notices. There are a bunch of services (Google search) that could deliver deal RSS headlines or content to your inbox, but I haven’t used any and don’t know which to recommend.
