I got the email from Acme – before you posted this.
I used the promo to do some early Christmas / Birthday shopping – on son’s and son-in-laws wish lists:
    1) preordered a M18 2872-20 threaded rod cutter
    2) ordered a M18 One-Key 2864-20 3/4in. impact wrench

The impact wrench had been excluded from prior Acme and ToolUp promos.

      Christmas lists? Seriously?

Maybe its a generational thing – but some of my relatives – (kids, in-laws, nieces, nephews) keep wish lists updated on Amazon, BB&B, and elsewhere. I buy items when I see a sale – or in the case of “stocking stuffer items) when I see something interesting. My wife thinks I’m crazy – but I also keep a running tab on what I spend versus what we think we want to spend on birthday, and Christmas presents.

Seemingly the only way to get a discount on the newly released, but only available at a few out lets to buy Dewalt 20v barrel grip jigsaw. $177 + tax with the deal. $209 everywhere normally.

I just grabbed the Makita 16″ 18v chainsaw kit for $348 shipped. It didn’t stack with the Makita promo, but still seemed like a good discount.

Was hoping hoping Acme would have a sale so I could pick up dip my toes into the Milwaukee Quik Lok outdoor power tool system. It worked on the trimmer + powerhead, edger, and articulating hedge trimmer. Already have my Echo gas system listed for sale on craigslist. Can’t wait to ditch the noise and maintenance of the gas tools.

Doh! I ordered the Makita tracksaw combo last week with the $20 of $100 promo. If I would have waited a few days, this would have netted me an extra ~$50 off. And the 39″ track is back ordered at Acme, so it’s not like I’ll be using the tracksaw for much until then. Oh well, looking forward to breaking down a sheet of 4’x8′ plywood on the ground and not wrestling it on my contractor table saw.

      In the same boat…

Still – does anyone know if the new Kreg KREG-ACS430 Rails are compatible? I’d rather buy 1x 62″ than 2x 55″ …

How long should I wait for the Acme staff to be so drunk they give me the discount twice for 30% off?

30% off (normal selling price) deals seem pretty scarce these days – except for closeouts or grey-market deals. Amazon will have some good deals on a onesy-twosey basis – but they are fleeting. Of course Amazon will sometimes say that their (or a third party vendor’s) price represents a higher % off – but that often seems to me to be based on some inflated MSRP – not the normal street price.

Zoro used to do some 30% off deals – rather infrequently. Now their 25% off deals also seem few and far between. With Acme their starting prices seem pretty competitive already – so one of their 15% or 20% off deals is usually pretty decent.
With Zoro – some of their prices are high – but we’d put some items where their prices were OK (like Starrett, Williams, Proto) on our shopping lists – and check back when they were having a 25% or 30% off promo. We bought a rather high-priced engine-driven welder this way – at a price we never saw again.

Thanks, purchased a stabila 14” digital level I wanted and a wixey digital angle gauge. Level was still expensive but the best price I’ve been able to find it at.

So I tried to Milwaukee table saw and the Milwaukee crown stapler since both weren’t on the exclusion list lo and behold neither worked with the promo. Not sure what the deal is with Acme here lately but they have certainly cut back on their really good deals. On Black Friday I didn’t even bother to buy anything because they had so many restrictions that everything I had been waiting to buy didn’t work with the promo. I also have been wanting to purchase an Ego self propelled lawnmower but all the Ego products were on the restriction list as well and have been for quite some time.

I forgot to mention that Acme is also adding “special handling” fees to a lot of things they ship now for which they didn’t before. Not sure what is going on with that!

When Acme had the black Friday price mistake on an M12 drill / packout kit for $30 I was quick enough to snag a few. They honored their mistake which impressed me. I’ve since bought a few other things from them. Seems like a good place to spend my money.

Yeah – I bought two of those kits, came to like $63 total. Bought them to get the packout cases, but in the end sold all of it off as the packout system was just too ridiculous for my needs. Probably made $175 on the deal at least.

Ditto on the handling. $49 to ship the dewalt flexvolt track saw combo. Ouch. The box is about 5 feet long so I guess fed ex or UPS is gouging them and we are getting the gouge passed on to us?

I ended up ordering the saw, battery, fast charger and t-stack box kit without the track and will get the track for less money shipped to my local Home Depot. The deal does include a dewalt 20v free tool which is nice. I chose the 4.5” grinder. Recip or impact were the other choices. I’ll post a craigslist ad for the t-stack as im into the tough system boxes. T stack seem like an odd choice for a pro grade saw case?

I don’t see much for deals except Black Friday so if one pops up I jump. (Thanks to ToolGuyd for letting me know).

Fathers day used to be a good one but now its just the combo kits that have been cheapened up to a certain price point for the big box stores.

Acme had a sale on the makita 118 track, for 190.
    However handling would’ve been 200.
    So I went with toolnut @only 25 +Tax. For around 240.

I bought a lot of stuff from Acme over the years but there is something funny about these 15% off sales. Every tool I have been watching for months suddenly goes up to list price just as the 15% off goes into effect. It always comes out to the same price as it was “discounted” for before and will be back to after. Sounds like “special handling” is the same thing.

I believe most of their tools have fixed margins and they just dance around them changing marketing programs. I only get a good deal when I can combine a manufacturer discount with the 15% which is not often.
