Amazon Tools Black Friday Countdown Deals

With Black Friday now less than 4 weeks away, Amazon has already kicked off their month-long “Countdown to Black Friday,” promotion, which includes some very good deals.

I’ll be posting about the better individual deals, but wanted to provide a shortcut to the Deals page for quick reference.

Last year, we spent more at Amazon during the holiday season, and in 2013 overall. The same has been true in past years. Needless to say, I watch Amazon’s tool and home improvement deals like a hawk.

If you don’t have Prime shipping, now might be a good time to sign up for a free trial, as they say Prime members will get “30-minute early access” to select Lightning Deals. You also get free shipping on Amazon-shipped items, except for small stuff they’re labeled as “add-on” items.

Here are a couple of notable deals:

Makita: $25 off $100+ select tools (exp. 12/31)
Dewalt: 10% off $25+ and 20% off $50+ select accessory orders (exp. 11/25)
California Air Tools: $10-15% off select tools (Discount is reflected in marked prices, exp. 12/31)
Woodstock & Shop Fox: 20% off select tools (exp. 11/15)
Extech: 20% off select tools (exp. 12/31)
Bosch: 15% off select laser measuring tools (exp. 11/21)
SOG Knives & Tools: 15% off select products (expr. 12/22)

Like you, much more of my personal tool-buying dollar has gone to (or through) Amazon – because of a combination of good price, good service and excellent return policy. Nonetheless I’ll also be watching for deals at other places like ToolUp. ToolBarn, Ohio Power Tool, Coastal Tool, BurnsTools, International Tool and Tools-Plus. I’ve bought from each of these folks and have been reasonably satisfied in the past. My wish list is down to a very few items with a few more that I think will make good gifts. Since a couple of my wish-list items are add-ons are for my Festool track saw – deals will be a scarce as hen’s teeth – unless Festool gets in a holiday mood.

Oooh…I’d forgotten about Black Friday. I use all of the mail in rebate Visa cards that I get, and put them toward my Amazon “gift credit”. What to buy, what to buy?

Maybe Stuart will grace us with a “top picks” list for Holiday giving and getting – and/or solicit reader recommendations for most wanted.

I haven’t decided whether there will be a holiday gift guide or not, but I might create an updated “Ultimate Gift Guide” for 2014.

      Here’s 2013’s edition: https://toolguyd.com/ultimate-tool-gift-guide/

A lot of those recommendations are timeless.

Newer releases are listed here – https://toolguyd.com/category/new-tools/ .

A most-wished for reader’s input post, as fred suggested, definitely sounds like a good idea. I’ll try to keep that in mind for later in the month, just before the crazy holiday deals and discounts start coming in.

I didn’t change anything yet… Still testing things out internally.

I had pretty much decided to get the m12 Fuel impact driver, and then i realized that the Fuel line has basically no specials and no history of specials. It makes sense considering it has had very little competition for top spot. Do you think the line has been around long enough and the competition made enough progress that Milwaukee will drop some kind of deal this year, or should i just bite the bullet and buy it?

Fuel tools might sometimes be included in free battery or free bonus tool promotions. But no, I don’t think they’re going to be featured in special holiday discount bundles such as this one. At least maybe not for a couple more years.

        Thanks.

Alternatively, any word about Bosch’s conspicuously absent brushless 12V impact driver? I’d probably take that over the Fuel m12 given the option, and Bosch pricing is far more seasonal.

A couple of USA distributors put up early place-holder listings for the PS42, but Bosch hasn’t made any official announcements yet.
