These Amazon Tool Deals Blow! (Literally, They’re Deals on Blowers)

Leaf-blowing season just ended, and so it makes some sense that electric air blowers are now being discounted on Amazon.

I never would have guessed there would be such a focus on lead blowers, but hey – who am I to question what kind of deals Amazon advertised in their sponsored postings on Facebook.

I did kind of mean what I said – about Amazon’s tool deals blowing. This year’s pre-Black Friday deals have been quite lame. Hopefully they have some good stuff in the works for the holiday season, and if not, I guess we can still be happy about their many brand discounts.

Makita 18V Cordless Air Blower: $59

Makita 18V Air Blower

A couple of readers mentioned this deal (thanks, guys!), and it does seem decent. It’s not eligible for Makita’s $25 off $100+ holiday promo.

This Makita 18V blower is a compact model that can be used for general cleanup tasks, and not just blowing leaves off your walkway or driveway.

Since this is a bare tool, you’ll have to provide your own battery and charger. If you don’t have one, consider this Makita 18V hammer drill kit, which is a good bargain at $99.

Toro 51619 Ultra Blower & Vac: $70

Toro 51619 Ultra Blower and Vac

Toro is a good name in air blowers, as well as lawn and garden tools in general, with this model looking to be $20-25 cheaper at Amazon than at some other places. But… some other places have it for the same $70.

This is an electric model that works with a user-supplied outdoor extension cord.

I don’t know how Amazon can boast about this deal if it’s the same price at a lot of other places, but  I suppose it’s still worth looking into, based on specs and reputation.

Black & Decker BV5600 High Performance Blower/Vac/Mulcher: $50

Black & Decker BV5600 High Performance Blower Vac and Mulcher

This Black & Decker BV5600 12A air blower is also a vacuum and mulcher, given it 3-in-1 functionality. Based on discount amount, this is the best deal of the lot.

It’s priced at $70 elsewhere, but only $60 at Amazon, and it’s eligible for their holiday $10 off $50 discount, dropping the price to $50.

It seems to have decent specs, and also decent user reviews.

I have the B&D one you listed. I thought it was worth the money when I bought it for $65 a while back. For anyone who never used a blower vac before, be sure to get one with a metal impeller. Things like twigs that get sucked in will take its toll on plastic vanes much faster than metal. Also, be sure to wear old clothes and eye protection. The vac bag is a loose mesh only designed to catch mulch. Any dust sucked in pretty much blows right through, and swirls around you. A dust mask wouldn’t be a bad idea, either.

I bought the Toro blower and I’m generally pleased with it. I had a Home Depot coupon and so it came to that same $70 Amazon price. The blower works really well for electric. It is nicely balanced and there are multiple ways of holding it. Comes with several nozzle attachments. The vac isn’t great, but I’m not too upset since I planned to use it mainly as a blower. It has a metal impeller which should chew through most twigs and leaves but the nozzle frequently clogs up. Doesn’t come with a cord but has a wrap around hook to keep yours from unplugging. I’d recommend this if you’re set on an electric blower. Lighter and easier to maneuver than I expected.
