Jul 8, 2010 Stuart Discuss

We recently discussed the new 12V Max cordless screwdriver that Dewalt is introducing as part of their upcoming line of compact cordless tools. We’re now going to talk about the 3/8″ drill driver (DCD710S2) that Dewalt will be releasing at the same time.

Craftsman Ratcheting Elbow Wrenches Hands-on Review

Jul 8, 2010 Stuart 16 Comments

With their pivoting box ends, Craftsman’s ratcheting elbow wrenches are anything but ordinary. Possibly inspired by similarly styled indexable ratchets, these elbow wrenches are designed for use in tight spaces and situations where a fastener may be obstructed. Curious about whether these new wrenches were innovative, gimmicky, or both, we set out to review them. In the end, […]

To celebrate their 50+ year history, WD-40 has released a new nostalgic “now & then” combo pack featuring an 8 ounce collector’s cans, and an 8 ounce Smart Straw can. The black and yellow “then” version is fully-functional and pays homage to the 1950s when WD-40 was used in the aerospace industry under Rocket Chemical Company.

C.H. Hanson Remedies Potential Ball Level Crosshair Issue!

Jul 5, 2010 Stuart 2 Comments

Last month we posted an update to our review of C.H. Hanson’s Precision Ball Level. In our experience, the ball level worked exactly as advertised, and looked to be very solidly made. In our update, we discussed a slight design flaw that made new levels susceptible to damage under certain conditions – perhaps careless handling at […]

Lava Pumice-Powered Hand Cleaner

Jul 2, 2010 Stuart 8 Comments

There are times when ordinary soap and water just won’t cut the grease off your hands. In those cases, reach for a pumice-powered cleaner. Lava describes their product pretty adequately – whatever you’re into, Lava gets it out. I prefer to use Lava bars, but they do have a liquid version available as well. Lava Heavy […]

Dewalt Circular Saw Cameos in Old Spice Ad

Jul 2, 2010 Stuart 3 Comments

I just watched one of Old Spice’s new amusing/patronizing/strange commercials, and spotted a brief Dewalt cameo. The actor uses the Dewalt 28V cordless circular saw as a prop, walking and cutting with it. Cool. Watch the commercial I can’t tell whether the saw is Dewalt’s 28V or 36V version. What do you guys think?

SK Hand Tools Declares Bankruptcy!!

Jun 29, 2010 Stuart 4 Comments

It’s official, SK Hand Tools has declared bankruptcy. Rumor of the bankruptcy was relayed by a GarageJournal forum member, and then confirmed by another after receiving an email from an SK distributor. It is also rumored that Ideal Industrials, who recently acquired Pratt-Read and Western Forge, is interested in buying up the company. We have our fingers crossed. If […]

Jun 29, 2010 Stuart 2 Comments

Just take a look at that cake! Too bad the various tools are not accurately branded, but it’s awesome nonetheless. I especially love the tape measure trim and wood textured board. Brilliant! Photo by Colette, cake made by Cheri’s Bakery. Thanks to Mrs. ToolGuyd for the headsup, and to Cake Wrecks for permission to use the […]

Dewalt 12V MAX Cordless 1/4″ Hex Chuck Screwdriver

Jun 28, 2010 Stuart 12 Comments

Of the seven tools Dewalt will introduce as part of their new 12V MAX lithium ion cordless line this fall, the most demanded tool will probably be the cordless screwdriver (DCF610S2) due to its small size and user-friendly features. Dewalt designed the screwdriver to be compact yet powerful enough to handle the intense fastening demands of professionals. […]

Extech Video Borescope & Wireless Inspection Camera

Jun 28, 2010 Stuart 2 Comments

Compared to a non-wireless inspection tool, a wireless borescope allows for more convenient or remote viewing. What’s the point of whipping out a gooseneck inspection camera if you cannot easily see the screen! When I found out that Dewalt was including a wireless inspection camera with their upcoming 12V MAX product line launch, I immediately […]
