Bosch DDH181X 18V Brute Tough Drill with Active Response Technology

Over at Amazon, there’s a new summer promo where you can buy a select Bosch 18V tool kit and get a free bonus battery offer. You have a choice between a free 5.0Ah battery pack, or a 2.0Ah wireless battery charging kit.

Eligible tools include Bosch’s brushless drill and impact offerings, their hybrid impact driver/wrench, their heavy duty drills with anti-kickback “active response technology,” and a couple of combo kit options.

The choice of a free 5.0Ah battery pack is pretty straightforward, but the 2.0Ah battery kit requires a bit more explanation. With that 2.0Ah battery kit, which is actually a battery and charger kit, you get a wireless charger, the charger frame accessory, and a wireless charging 2.0Ah battery pack.

The 18V 5.0Ah battery pack retails for ~$120, and the wireless battery charging starter pack is $159. As a reminder, the 2.0Ah wireless battery can also be charged using the charger included in the cordless power tool kit, but the inductive charger can only charge wireless batteries.

Eligible tool kits and your choice of free bonus battery product must be ordered at the same time, and must be purchased and shipped directly from Amazon. Deal ends August 31st, 2015.

All the kits are based on drills or drivers – This is for people who don’t own anything from the Bosch 18v world yet, because if you do, you likely don’t need what’s eligible.

I took advantage of this deal to pick up the excellent CLPK224-181 Hammer Drill / Brushless Impact Driver kit. I opted for the 5.0Ah battery. The kit shipped with two 4.0Ah batteries. That’s plenty of juice to go around!
