Maglite Updates Their AA LED Flashlights

Jun 30, 2010 Stuart 3 Comments

Maglite has updated their relatively popular line of 2 x AA LED flashlights. Most notable, the new model (SP22?) features an electronic switch, which allows users to operate the flashlight at 100% power, 25% power, blink, or S.O.S. modes. According to the product packaging, the LED outputs 69 lumens, and the battery runtime is 18 […]

Fenix LD20 LED Flashlight

Jun 15, 2010 Stuart 4 Comments

In my search for a new AA LED flashlight, I came across the Fenix LD20. Featuring 4 light levels and 2 strobe settings, this 6″ waterproof T6 aircraft-grade aluminum flashlight looks to be an excellent EDC (every day carry) light. A quick google search brings up many positive reviews.

New Higher Powered Joby Gorillatorch Flare

Jun 10, 2010 Stuart 2 Comments

Joby’s flex-leg Gorillatorch flashlight was introduced months ago, and it appears to have become quite popular. We certainly love it! Since then Joby has released new colored versions of the Gorillatorch, in yellow, orange, and blue. Joby is now launching the Gorillatorch Flare, a new higher-powered and more feature-rich version.

Inova X5 LED Flashlight

Mar 19, 2010 Stuart 3 Comments

Inova’s X5 is a great LED flashlight at an affordable price. The X5 features 5 LEDs that output a maximum of 60 lumens, has a durable aerospace-grade aluminum body, and runs on CR123 lithium batteries. Like Inova’s other X-series flashlights, the X5 has a knurled twist switch, and machined flats around its body that makes the flashlight […]

New Joby Gorillapod Magnetic Flexible Mini Tripod

Feb 22, 2010 Stuart Discuss

Joby just added a new magnetic flexible legged mini tripod to their Gorillapod lineup. Our biggest gripe with the Gorillatorch, although minor, is that we could not [easily] modify it for use with 3rd party flashlights. Although the new Gorillapod Magnetic is intended for use with P&S cameras, it shouldn’t be too difficult to craft a custom […]

Stanley 3-in-1 LED Flashlight for $21

Nov 24, 2009 Stuart 7 Comments

Over at Amazon, Stanley’s 3-in-1 LED flashlight is on sale for $21. Featuring a compact tripod base and three separately removable flashlight units, each with a pivoting multi-directional head, this is a rather versatile worklight. Stanley’s 95-155 3-in-1 flashlight typically retails for $30, so $21 is a decent bargain. We are waiting to see if the […]

We recently mentioned the Stanley Squidlite, a flexible tripod work light. Since then, we have received new information about the light, as well as a user’s firsthand experience with it.

Stanley SquidBrite Flexible Tripod Work Light

Oct 29, 2009 Stuart 1 Comment

Behold, Stanley’s flexible tripod work light – the SquidBrite. Featuring a rechargeable battery and magnetic back, this looks to be a rather versatile work light. The lamp appears to have twenty LEDs, but there is no word yet as to whether there is a variable output switch. An alternative work light at a similar price […]

“Snap-on” 75W “Cordless” “Heavy Duty” Drop Work Light

Oct 19, 2009 Stuart 1 Comment

Technically, the above pictured “Snap-on” 75W  “cordless” “heavy duty” drop work light is cordless since it it sold without a power cord. The lamp accepts 75W incandescent bulbs, and relies on a user-supplied 3-prong extension cord for power. Since this work light is not mentioned anywhere on Snap-on’s website, it is likely a licensed 3rd […]

Gorillatorch – Hands Free Flashlight

Aug 20, 2009 Stuart 11 Comments

Joby just announced their new Gorillatorch – a nifty looking hands-free flashlight/worklight, and boy are we excited. We’re huge fans of Joby’s Gorillapod ball and socket legged mini tripods, so naturally this got our attention. The Gorillatorch is of course bendable and easily positioned. Its legs are composed from medical-grade ABS plastic and TPE rubber, and its […]
