Craftsman Versitool Multi-Driver

Craftsman is coming out with a new Versitool multi-bit driver that accepts 1/8″, 5/32″, and 1/4″ hex-shank screwdriver bits. It comes with 6 double-sided screwdriver bits that can be stored inside the handle.

We don’t yet know where to you can buy this, but it looks like some Ace Hardware locations are carrying it for $13 ($10 on sale).

This is the 12-in-1 set, and there is also a 10-in-1 driver that seems to only be compatible with 1/4″ hex bits.

A multi-bit driver that can hold precision/micro bits and standard 1/4″ hex bits, presumably without an adapter? Sounds good to us.

Craftsman also has a 10 in 1 driver under versitool name sold at Ace and I think Sears might be carrying it as well – looks good!

This is similar to another driver I recently commented on. It’s really not a precision driver as such. It’s a universal handle that just happens to come with a set of precision bits. It’s a general purpose tool that is anything you want it to be. That makes it MUCH more desirable than if it only accepted the sizes that are included.

I wouldn’t spend the money on it if it only worked with precision bits. I prefer a set of standard drivers in those situations. The versatility of this however, makes it an entirely different animal.

My local Ace store just special ordered this driver for me and I like it a lot, definitely worth $12.
