CRKT Portable Knife Sharpener

CRKT Keychain Sharpener

CRKT’s keychain sharpener is designed for on-the-go sharpening and knife-edge touch-ups, not unlike the Smith’s Pocket Pal sharpener we discussed a couple of weeks ago. The field sharpener features carbide blades in a V-configuration, a flathead screwdriver, small cord/strap cutter, and a bottle opener.

It’s interesting that CRKT added additional features to the tool, but the secondary functions might not give enough reason to carry the keychain sharpener on  daily basis. The tool’s handle is composed of glass-filled nylon and 2CR13 steel.

Please excuse my patriotism. Here’s a pocket sized knife sharpener that’s made in “my country”. The product description doesn’t say that it’s made in the USA, but it is. Over the yrs I’ve bought plenty of them as gifts for friends & relatives.

This isn’t a knife sharpener, it is a knife destroyer. Those carbide blades will do unfathomable damage to a knife edge. I would rather use a smooth rock, or the bottom of a cup, or anything else to sharpen a knife I value.

That CRKT offers this tool says a lot about them as a knife company and their views of their customers. I doubt that Spyderco would offer such a tool, or recommend its use…
