Dewalt 8V Gyro Cordless Screwdriver Appears to be Back!

Dewalt 8V Max Gyro Cordless Screwdriver Available at Amazon October 2025

The Dewalt 8V Max gyroscopic cordless screwdriver has been out of stock and unavailable for the longest time, and it looks like the situation has changed.

I checked Dewalt’s website the other day, to see if there was a “discontinued” notice or similar, as PR didn’t have any updates on this, and was surprised that it said you could buy it at Amazon.

I then checked Amazon’s website, and they have a shipping ETA for next week.

Readers pointed out that there have been complaints about how some customers received the cheaper model instead, but it looks like Amazon might have fixed that.

Another reader said that these are selling for around $250 and up on ebay. I took a look, and the first two listing I saw had $350 price tags, and the third had it for $325.

Amazon’s price of $143.85 seems a little high to me, but it’s certainly better than buying older ones from resellers.

I’m guessing – and hoping – that this means Amazon and maybe other retailers purchased a bunch for the holiday season.

The Dewalt 8V Max cordless screwdriver features gyroscopic controls. Basically, you rotate it right to drive or tighten fasteners, or lest to loosen or remove them.

It has very intuitive controls. This model, DCF680, features a torque dial and pivoting handle, so that you can use it as an inline tool or in the standard right angle mini cordless screwdriver mode as shown here.

The DCF680N2 kit comes with 2 batteries and a charger.

Buy it at Amazon

Hopefully Amazon fixed their warehouse issue, where customers were being sent the non-gyro 8V USB-rechargeable model in the gryo’s place.

Prime Day is coming up fast, and so is the holiday shopping season. I don’t know whether it’ll stay at the $144 price or if that’ll get any better. I also can’t tell if Amazon is selling off “new old stock” that they dug up, or if this is new inventory that Dewalt produced for the upcoming deals and gifts season.

The only thing that’s clear is that lots of users have been clamoring about this tool and its unavailability, and it seems Amazon and Dewalt fixed that. Hopefully everything is exactly as it seems.

The DCF680N2 is discontinued – at least in Canada. I can confirm as we are a large tool store in Ontario.

It’s been a cyclic product – I first asked Dewalt if it was discontinued nearly 8 years ago – but I think this has been the longest stretch of it being unavailable.

I got one before, at your recommendation. But at a better price, $110 or so.
Used it extensively for the first time recently on disassembling several pieces of storage furniture. Worked very well. Just the right amount of torque and could get into every where I needed it to fit. The gyroscopic control is a conversation piece with the rest of the family. It’s definitely a niche tool, but very nice when you need it.

I love my DeWalt gyroscopic screwdriver! I bought it back in 2022 on Black Friday for $80. That new price makes me think someone dug up some old stock and realized what people were willing to pay.

Right? I don’t think I paid as much either. It helped me assemble a ton of IKEA products, as long as you had a Pozidriv bit and hex-key bit set!
The Flexdrive model, meh, I mean, if DeWalt battery chargers had a USB-C port, you could charge this model. I prefer the removable battery…its like being conditioned that you can always replace the battery. Not so with these USB charging only model.

Though overpriced I appreciate that you can get it for a reasonable price. The lack of stocking it at other stores tells me this is new old stock and not nessarly back in production. You should still get one its fantastic and I kinda like it more than my makita pen impact even.

I bought one on Woot last month for 120. It sold out within hours. The tool and batteries have 2024 manufacture date.
