Try the Dewalt Atomic Tape Measure While it’s on Sale

Dewalt Atomic Compact Tape Measure Extended

Home Depot has the Dewalt Atomic series compact tape measure on sale at a very good “go ahead, try me!” price.

For the holidays, they have a 2-pack of the 25′ tape measures for $19.88. The regular price is $15-17 each.

While these are not Dewalt’s best tape measures, they are among my favorite. The tapes are compact and comfortable to use, and their standout and reach specs are respectable.

The 25′ tape has a 1-1/8″ blade that delivers 13 feet of max reach.

Additional features include an integrated finger brake for blade control, and also fractional markings.

Dewalt Atomic Compact Tape Measure Fractional Markings

I’m not a big fan of fractional markings, and found that these don’t get in the way. Basically, I don’t need them, and don’t use them, but they also don’t get in my way or bother me.

There are going to be a lot of tape measure deals and bonus promo packs this holiday season – mostly 2-packs like this one. So far, this Dewalt promo pack is my favorite pick, presuming they’re the same as the Atomic tapes I bought when they first came out.

Price: $20 (with FREE no-minimum ground shipping)

How does these compare to last years (or two?) sale on the 25′ Fat Max’s ?

I tend to pull out a much smaller 10′ Stanley sweetheart or 8′ Lufkin key-chain hi-viz tape for most things but these could end up being Christmas gifts for the nephews.

Your better off getting something from Harbor Freight. After a year of daily use of the Dewalt Atomic Tape Measure, they become brittle and breaks.

Thanks! I’ll probably just get them Lufkin’s then. While they won’t be using them daily I’d rather they have a bit more quality than that.

I’ve been a fan of FatMax for a while – they make decent general purpose tapes – but have since moved to Atomic and Tough Series.

My next pick would be the Milwaukee compact magnetic tape promo pack, which is also 2 for $20. I haven’t tried those yet, the entire line has just been updated.

That stacks with a buy 3 get $10 off promo.

Yep! I’ll cover that soon too. Curiously, it says it’s online only.

Most of the tape measures in my house have grown legs, this will be the year to restock. Going to give these a shot, I’ve never had a tape with finger brake before and see that as a welcome feature.

From my experience all the compact type ones from DeWalt and Milwaukee use thinner metal and don’t hold up long to regular use on the jobsite. For consumer or light use they’d be a good value. I like using the fatmax or Lufkin Nite Eye G2.

These have a very weak clip on them. I find myself picking them up off the ground a lot. I’ll stick to the Stanley fat max thank you . Plus these get weak very fast and the stand out becomes less and less.
