Dewalt DCS355C1 Cordless Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit

Over at Amazon, the Dewalt DCS355C1 20V max cordless oscillating multi-tool kit is on sale for just $99. It’s currently “temporarily out of stock,” but you can still place your order and they’ll ship a kit out to you once they receive a resupply shipment.

It’s also on sale at Home Depot, with supplies seemingly running out at stores.

Update 7/1/19: It’s also $99 at Acme Tools.

  • Brushless motor
  • Tool-free blade change system
  • 0-20,000 OPM
  • Weighs 2.33 lbs
  • 1.6° oscillation angle
  • 11.2″ length
  • Dual-Grip variable speed trigger
  • LED worklight

There are some things to consider. First, you get a lower capacity compact battery – either 1.3Ah or 1.5Ah. No big deal, it gets you and up and cutting quick, but is still something to be mindful of.

Second, you get a sparse selection of accessories. But, is that a compromise or a preference? Speaking as someone who doesn’t like paying for included power tool accessory assortments I might never use, this might be a “pro” rather than a “con.”

Lastly, it’s priced considerably lower than the bare tool (DCS355B), which is typically priced at $139. So, you get the tool with a battery and charger, but for a price that’s less than for just the bare tool.

Price: $99

Update 6/28: Amazon raised the price to $179, although it might be worth checking back to see if it goes back down to $99. Home Depot still has the kit for $99, but you have to add it to your cart to see the price.

Update 7/1/19: Amazon’s price is back to $99.

Dewalt DCS355D1 Cordless Brushless Multi Tool Kit

If you want the kit with a higher capacity battery and a larger assortment of accessories, consider the DCS355D1, priced at $139. Acme Tools has it for $219, and Home Depot for $179.

The only thing I don’t like about Dewalt’s oscillating multi-tool is that it’s only tool-free with split-back oscillating multi-tool blades and accessories. That’s not an issue if you stick with compatible blades from Dewalt, Rockwell, or Imperial Blades. You can still use other brands’ accessories, but it requires a hex key. In my opinion, the best part about this model is its ergonomic handle

i have used this and this is among the nicest oscillating tools if you don’t count Fein. A great value if you are in the market for one of these, especially with the extra battery.

Is it any better than Milwaukee one? Will it be worth to substitute it? Milwaukee is super loud, wonder if Dewalt is much less noisy

I haven’t seen a quiet oscillating tool, but in my experience Fein has fewer vibrations.

Both Dewalt and Milwaukee are highly regarded, which one is better depends on which cordless system you prefer.

I have used both Makita and dewalt. The Makita is more quite. Still should wear hearing protection but I have forgotten before and my ears don’t hurt like the dewalt.

I should add the dewalt is a lot lighter and has a trigger instead of on of switch. I think the weight helps with vibration bit can be tiring. To each their own.

Has anyone used the Dewalt oscillating tool guide system? I got the DCS355C1 at Home Depot which does not include it. It is a hard accessory to find. I did find a few reviews that stated the guide’s usefulness was significantly limited since the oscillations cause the oscillations loosen the screws and knob. Does anyone have similar experience?

I’ve used it a few times and never had it come loose. It’s one of those things you forget you have, but it has come in handy when I remember I have it.

Also, the Dewalt Oscillating tool is really nice. Runs forever on a 2.0 battery, vibration isn’t bad. It’s noisy but it cuts well and has plenty of power for most things you use a multi tool for. For whatever reason it sands really well. With 80 grit pads it really removes material in a hurry. Haven’t used any of my Feins or Makita cordless since I got the Dewalt.

That kit was $99 on BF last year at Lowe’s, I believe it was $99 bare tool at HD for BF…maybe the HD kit came with a 1.3 Ah battery. I know Lowe’s had the better deal b/c that’s where I bought mine.

I bought this from Ebay for $85 brand new in box (tool only). It isn’t that loud, more of a digital noise that their other Dewalt brushless tools though. It is a pain trying to find attachments unless you have the adapter with you. So if you use it on jobs or for a living buy dewalt blades and attachments cause you will lot find them at homedepot or lowes.

If you’re already in the DeWalt 20V system, check out the bare tool on the Home Depot website (online only it appears) for 139, comes with free 4.0 Ah battery. Just got mine yesterday.

I love this tool. I probably use it more than anything except my drill around the house.

Just used it today to shave down some oak shoe molding the builder didn’t cut quite right to sit flush. Sanding attachment made short work of taking 1-2mm off.
