Why buy this particular planer? To start, it’s been around for a while and is very well regarded. It’s a quality machine that delivers good results.
This Dewalt planer can also be upgraded to a Shelix helical-style cutter head, although you’ll need to take it easy with your cutting depth to avoid over-taxing the motor. Changing the cutter head likely voids your factor warranty.
A couple of readers have asked us to keep our eyes and open for this deal. The current price of $529 is good, $499 is even better.

That’s the best price I’ve ever seen on the DW735X. I got mine several years ago for $525. It usually dips down to that price between November and December every year.

It’s $499 at my local Farm & Fleet, and they are having a 10%-off after hours sale this Sunday. For $450, I might have to get one. It’s been on my list a while.

Homie Depot has had it at the 529.99 $ for the past month. Been waiting. With some tax exempt. Very tempting. Also watching the Shelix, it doesn’t seem to move. 399.99$. Don’t believe I could do one with out the other.

I have the Dewalt 735. It is a fantastic machine. I really enjoy using it. I haven’t seen a lower price.

I got this kit for a similar price a couple years ago. After lots of use, I have never sharpened or changed a knife, and everything I do on it still looks and measures almost perfect.
I assumed I would quickly get the helical head, but as of now I still have an extra knife set and I am just waiting. If you need a planer, this is an amazing kit.
