I wrote an article over at Popular Mechanics reviewing five exotic and uncommon hand tools you’ll probably never see at your local big box hardware stores. These handy tools will likely be discussed in greater detail here on ToolGuyd in the future, but for now, check out my reviews over at PopMech!

Great article Stuart! I have a Schroeder Ratcheting Tap & Bit Wrench set. I got it on clearance from Sears.com for like $15. It normally sold for $80. I wouldn’t mind trying out that Nupla Handi-Hammer. That definitely looks convenient.

    Thanks!

When was it on clearance, and how could I have missed it?! Ah well, for about $15, the tap & bit wrench was still a great bargain. Cheaper than lower quality no-name versions as well. If you do get a Handi-Hammer, let me know how you like it. I love using mine, it actually is rather convenient and useful.

I got it last December. It is just like this set, ( http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00934035000P?keyword=schroeder+tap ) except it has eight taps instead of only two. You are right on the quality, the set does appear to have been machined.
While I am thinking about that Handi-Hammer, what is the cost?

I recall the set you’re talking about. At one point I had considered buying that set, but felt that i would be paying for too many bit/tap accessories that I didn’t really need. The small 4 in 1 bitmixx pocket screwdriver included in the set looks pretty handy!

I think Wera makes better built, more ergonomic drivers than PB Swiss. But all the other reviews are spot-on.

I got the 14oz. deadblow from Sears for about $18 if I remember right.
