HD has a similar deal if you search “bosch free 3rd”, I like their 90 days return policy on online order even tho their price is a bit higher.

Ugh, all these days running all the time are making me feel increasingly torn as to continue supporting the Makita 18V lithium ion system I’m invested in. I’m not too far into their system, only a hammerdrill/driver, impact driver, recip saw, flashlight, and a more basic drill/driver only. Running a mix of new and older 1.5 and 3.0 AH batteries. No news from Makita if they’re going to adopt a 4.0 or larger amp-hour battery. Would love to know if they’re going to stop up to the plate or not. Tempting to jump ship considering Dewalt, Makita, and Bosch seem to be transitioning to the 4.0 AH for their larger capacity lineup.

There was a post that might have been on this webpage about Makita’s position on 4.0 batteries that 2 3.0 with their charging system was just as good as the new 4.o batteries that are being released now. It seems like they got caught with their pants down a little bit with this new amp hour war going on. Metabo is pushing out a new 5.2 ah battery they were the ones that started the 4.0ah wars. It should make for a very interesting year.

Stuart, Im sure you already knew but in case you hadn’t home depot has a today only special for the Bosch 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Compact Drill Driver with 2 Slim Packs and Charger for only $119. That’s near 12v pricing for an 18v drill.
