Deal of the Day: Gladiator Garage Storage Cabinets and a Workbench

Woot Gladiator Cabinet Deal 122014

Over at Woot, an Amazon company, they’ve discounted a couple of Gladiator garage storage products, today only, 12/5/2014. The deal ends 12am CT 12/6/2014 unless supplies run out sooner.

All of these items look a little weird to me, so I dug around a little. It turns out that these are all part of a new Gladiator Starter Suite line of welded storage cabinets.

Before, only the premium products were welded, the cheaper ones were user-assembled. These look to be somewhere in between. There are differences between these starter products and Gladiator’s more premium offerings, such as how these have smooth metal doors instead of ones with a diamond-plate design.

Instead of bamboo or maple, this workbench has a rubberwood worktop.

Just going by the looks of the products and their load ratings, they seem to be decent offerings. Gladiator just launched this line, and so there’s not much user feedback available on the web. I do like that they’re welded instead of being bolt-together constructions, but the starter description auto-translates to cheap in my mind.

Shipping is a flat $5 per order.

As of now, here’s what Woot has discounted and still available:

  • 65″ workbench with rubberwood worktop
  • 26″ wall Gearbox cabinet with 2 doors
  • 2-door modular Gearbox cabinet with casters
  • 4-drawer modular Geardrawer with casters
  • 26″ tall mobile Gearbox with casters

The two modular cabinets can fit side-by-side under the workbench.

Back in 2011 I purchased 2 of their rolling cabinets (GAGB272DRG) from Amazon at about this time of the year when they were having a sale. 1 arrived in decent (only a minor ding) condition. The other had its doors pretty well bashed in – one worse than the other> The fault may have been with the shipper – but Whirlpool-Gladiator’s packaging was very flimsy for such a heavy item. Amazon had it picked up and sent me another one which also was none-to-good for travelling.- this one I inspected and refused delivery. The third one “was the charm” – sent out by an express company (much like they do with larger Festool Tracks)
