Harbor Freight US General Mini Tool Box Color Options Vote 2025

Harbor Freight has asked their social media followers to vote on the next US General mini tool box color.

They say that there will be 3 new colors this fall, and asked tool users vote on a 4th new color which will be launching in 2026.

The options are hot pink, yellow, light pink, and orange.

HF has not yet revealed what colors they will be added to their line of US General mini tool boxes, which are currently available in red, blue, and black.

I think the next colors will be white, slate gray, and either purple or green. I’d like the fourth new color to be yellow, but I think hot pink is most likely.

So far it looks like orange has taken the lead.

ORANGE! LOL That would look sweet next to my black one!

Not that I need anymore mini tool boxes. lol I have one from Snap-On, both styles from Lowes and the Harbor Freight. They do come in handy for small tools and other gear organization.

Of all of them, I think Harbor Freight makes the best one, especially with the ball bearing drawer slides. Both styles of Kobalts from Lowes are clunky. The one from Snap-On looks the best is the smallest and least functional.

Agreed, the HF boxes are way nicer than the Kobalt ones. The Kobalt are clunky and the drawers are always getting stuck

        “…and $150? Ridiculous!”

Michael Reed, If you are referring to the Snap-On Mini, I completely agree!

Now, I can be a tool snob and absolutely spend a pretty penny on tools, but the Snap-On Mini tool box is way over priced. A good friend gifted me one. No way would I have purchased it. Especially now that I have it. I think it’s even more overpriced once you feel how cheap it feels and how poorly it functions.

    Yellow.
Personally, I’d find these way more useful if they’d forego the flip-top, and either added a third drawer, or made the existing top drawer deeper (i.e. height). The flip top just means I can’t store anything on the top, or place the tool box on a shelf/rack with another shelf close above. That’s what’s kept me from buying one up to now.

Att: Harbor Freight: Your website lists these for $18.99 but the embedded video still says they’re “only $17.99”.

The flip top is why I haven’t chased getting any of these, too.

I just use a couple magnets for things that I want to “store” on top of the toolbox. But usually, it’s just the outgoing mail or a list of things the wife needs to me to do!!

Would love to see them take a stab at the 3 drawer similar to Kobalt that you can stack these on.

Agreed. There might be diminishing returns at some point. I like the Kobalt colors better, but the US General (I tried it in-store) feels a lot better. I see both as being cute and practical novelties rather than daily use boxes.

For me they are daily use boxes.

In the shop, marking tools, small measuring tools, and small tools that did not have a place, these work great.

My computer desk also. Again, pen & pencils, extra staples, letter opener, and various other stuff that would be lying on my desk.

I find they are great for the small stuff which did not have a place.

The HF is a good deal if your hobby/trade involves a lot of small tools. Electronics repair, crafts, jewelrymaking, watch repair… or even just folks who like collecting tiny tools. if they would add the 3-drawer to the lineup it would be great.

My wife bought a bunch of Kobalt ones, plus the bigger base drawer box, then personalized them with her vinyl cutter to give as sewing tool boxes for her mother and sisters at Christmas last year. The Harbor Freight ones were out of stock so long, then she bought a couple when they finally came in stock and returned a couple of Kobalts to Lowes, but we STILL have a few boxes sitting around here. The problem with the HF boxes is no base box.

You’d think that they would stick to the same colors as in the US General Tool Boxes that way we can “match” to ours. That would be the logical course of action, right?

Sign an agreement with the NFL and market toolboxes in team colors. Just a wild arse thought.

I’d rather see them update these with drawers that extend out further.

For the uninitiated like myself, what is the price on these. Or maybe I should ask, HF always have coupons of sorts. I do not have a HF near me. If one day I happen to be in one, I would like one of these because of the bearing slides.

Are there ready available coupons that can be used on these or is this something they rarely lower the price on?

(I know I can ship but that will not work for me.)

Around $20, and I believe coupons do apply.

I was really hoping the next innovation here was the lower 3 drawer stack unit.

I’ve looked at converting a Lowe’s box to ball bearing slides to equal the drawer quality of the HF, and it can’t be done without major drawer modification
