Hilti Waste Management System WMS 100-22 Water

A reader asked about the new Hilti cordless core drilling slurry management system.

I thought I saw on an Instagram post that Hilti had a new cordless Slurry vacuum for coring. I know they have their corded unit, but this one looked cordless. I have not seen any announcements about it though. Have you heard anything?

Yes – Hilti did provide some info.

Shown above is the Hilti WMS 100-22 water management system, which Hilti describes as a cordless water tank. It’s both a water supply and recollects and filters cooling water for core drilling.

Features include:

  • Up to one full day of water supply for wet diamond coring applications
  • Cleaner jobsites – simplified slurry disposal
  • Reduce water consumption up to 80%
  • ECO mode for longer filter life, more holes per fill with water collector

This class of core drilling water supply pumps water to the tool, and then recollects it rather than letting the water spill to the floor. The water then passes through a filter and rejoins the water supply in the tank. I assume the new Hilti cordless water supply and slurry vacuum works in the same way.

That would be how Hilti’s water management system reduces water consumption – you’re able to use the same volume of water through several cycles, extending the work that can be done with the initial fill.

It sound a lot like a water pump and wet shop vacuum all in one device.

There are lots of questions. What’s the fill capacity? How many batteries do you need? Is ECO mode about prolonging the filter or battery runtime?

The “up to one full day of water supply” seems to relate to the water capacity through several use and recollection cycles. How much battery charge capacity would be needed to push this cordless water tank and recovery unit through a full work day of use?

This is all I know about the Hilti WMS, but maybe their influencer partners, who attended an exclusive event and have reviews up on social media, can help with anyone’s questions.

Hilti Cordless Water Collector VP WCS-22

Hilti also have this cordless water collector, VP WCS-22, which recollects waste water during core drilling.

Features of the new Hilti slurry collector include:

  • Self-propelled collector system
  • Exceptional water recollection rate of greater than 90%
  • Collector rings come in diverse shapes and sizes
  • Allows WMS 100-22 to remain parallel to coring tool, reducing switching time by more than 50%

It’s not clear to me whether this is specifically designed for Hilti’s also-new Nuron 22V battery-powered water management system, or if it’s designed for use with other products including the WMS.

Hilti says it’s a cordless water collector, implying that it needs to be powered independently of the slurry water management system.

That’s impressive and I guess mandated in some places. Because it looks expensive. How many holes can a core drill make in one day? 8. I’m sure diameter matters but it can’t be too many. Curious.

Depends on the core size, material type, age, thickness, core bit type, drill size, drill position. I I have been watching some coring guys at my site make some 4” diameter, 1.5” deep holes though one side of a hollow core concrete beam and it only takes them a couple minutes each hole do do the actual drilling it seems. Thats with a 120v hand held coring drill.
