Over at Home Depot, they have the Husky Build-Out 2-drawer tool boxes priced at $49.98, from $99.98.
I spotted a couple of yellow price reduction stickers as well, but the Build-Out drawer box caught my attention. They have the same deal price online.
The Husky Build-Out 2-drawer tool box comes with removable dividers for the top drawer, and the bottom drawer is deeper and open with no dividers.

While it’s part of the Build-Out modular storage system, I wonder if these boxes can be used standalone.
A stack of two or three might work well in a workshop, and they also have a Build-Out dolly (sold out online), or you can make your own stand or mobile cart solution.
I haven’t tested the Husky Build-Out system yet, but it seems serviceable.
My Home Depot also had a couple of towers with Husky Connect tool boxes and organizers. I was checking one out and found the top handle was either broken or detached. The Build-Out components felt a bit sturdier.
$50 for a 2-drawer tool box seems suspiciously inexpensive – I wonder if this is a soft-clearance and that an update is on the way.
There were plenty at my local store. I wouldn’t run to a Home Depot to buy them all up, but I figured some of you might be interested in checking it out at this price, especially if you have a store on your way home or you’re there all the time anyway.

Stuart thanks, I’ll check it out today. With their lower price point I’ve been satisfied with the various Husky brand items I’ve bought in the past. I just don’t expect them to perform like much higher priced gear. You just have to think it strategically. Seems Husky gets a bad rap.
Stuart
From the little I’ve seen about these Husky boxes in stores, they’re not great, but also not bad. They’re in the “probably good enough” category. No, it’s not going to compete against Packout or ToughSystem, but it’s much more affordable.

I gave away two Husky storage things. One, they had a complicates/over weighted hinge level section you lift up and away (better not have it heavier on the top part than bottom. And Husky put their decal on the top 80% of the clear lid, making it difficult to see compartment contents and pain to remove (it never fully came off, and the adhesive was still there when I gave away… didn’t want to try acetone or goof-off because of the material).
And thus, I would never look at a Husky storage product again.
Now did I tell you my bad luck with a new Milwaukee packout versus a car tailight? The packout won…

Might work in my van shelves, just to be stationary. I’ll check them out today.

Stuart are they made by the same company as RIDGID boxes? Or does HD source these from another manufacturer? I really like my Ridgid boxes and the customer service is very good as well.
Stuart
No. Ridgid are made by Keter. I don’t recall which company makes the Build-Out for Husky and HD – maybe Meridian.
JoeH
Correct, the BuildOut boxes are made by Meridian, the Connect system boxes were made by Keter.

The UPC on the box that Stuart is posting about is 6976227032053.
That UPC is associated with Shanghai Meirui Industrial Co., Ltd.

Funny because they just raised the price on the husky connect drawer boxes that are just sitting unsold. I’d probably get one or two of those at the original price. Why not try reducing some of the overstock to get rid of it? They apparently don’t have enough room for some more Ridgid options or build out. Just seems like silly business practices.
Sorry, I forgot about inflation. However the buildout 2 drawer is a good price. Is it because buildout is not made in china and the connect one in china?

The quality on these isn’t bad, when you go to store and compare all the brands. They also have the Build-Out 22 in. Modular Tool Storage Tool Case at 38% off.
I just wish they had a 4 shallow drawer unit, because the 3 drawer unit isn’t very efficient for small items.
And with Husky/Home Depot, I could see the Build Out line not expanding with many options, or maybe going away.

Hey Stuart, thought you might want to include this on your site as a hot deal.
Lowe’s has the Triple Hammer (18v 2nd gen) w/2 batteries, hard case, and charger for $129 as a deal of the day. 🙂

Some feedback from visiting two of my local HD’s (SF Bay Area):
— No sales on any Husky Build Out Items
— Ridgid Pro Gear attachment (with two big wheels) on clearance, but only 10% off (last time it was on clearance, it was 50% off).
— Ridgid Pro Gear dolly, which I didn’t even know existed in the US, is also on clearance with 10% off ($63, regular $70): https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-Dolly-24-in-x-18-in-Black-Modular-Tool-Cart-262824/334162073
HD doesn’t do a very good job of promoting Pro Gear, for example, I didn’t know there was an affordable ($20) mounting select 3 gal Ridgid shop vacs to Pro Gear: https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-Pro-Gear-Accessory-PG0300-Vac-Mount-Shop-Vacuum-Attachment-for-3-Gal-RIDGID-NXT-Wet-Dry-Vacs-HD0300-and-HD0318-PG0300/326168262

I bought 3 at the $49.98 price. Decent product and will serve a need. I went back to get more and the price went back up to $99.98. Not buying at that price
