Home Depot has new tool deals of the day for 7/30/25, and as usual this limited time sale features a mix of fresh and returning deals.
The deals selection has a couple of standouts, most notably a Milwaukee M12 Fuel INSIDER ratchet kit that’s bundled with a standard 3/8″ ratchet for $60 less than the price for just the special ratchet kit.
Those kinds of deals always make Home Depot deals of the day worth scanning over. There’s a promo on the Insider ratchet kit already, where you get a free bonus tool such as the 3/8″ ratchet, but for today-only and online-only, you can get an extra $60 discount.

I’m sure I’ll get killed for this from the trolls but I picked up the M12 fuel deal with the ratchet this morning on my way to a job. I had to take down a pergola and a bunch of TV wall mounts and of course about eight different fasteners were used so I was glad I had a second impact. What surprised me is it that I like my skil power core 12 more. Better grip, better light and it has a one-handed bit change operation. Performance wise they’ve seen the same but I figured for a Milwaukee fuel I assumed a quick release bit change would be standard. It’s a good tool but I assumed it was going to replace my skil has my everyday carry her my main projects but it will not. I already thought that skil was underrated but now I’m feeling this seriously underrated. Good tool though and the hammer drill and ratchet are awesome for that price.

Skil is certainly underrated, at least for certain tools.
Their 12V right-angle impact driver easily beats M12, M18, and Makita LXT in both price and performance.

It’s been on my list for awhile. I wanted the Skil ratchet until my local Lowe’s put one on display and I realized it was way bigger than I thought. Is the right angle driver a decent size and manageable?

You’re talking about comparing the m12 fuel drill to the skil power core drill?
I think it’s a mostly fair assessment. The lights on all of milwaukee’s12v line could use some serious improvements. Even their lovely tape measure has a better light than most of their power tools.
I was extremely underwhelmed by my m12 fuel drill for the most part until I just recently replaced all my 12v battery packs with the new M12 5.0 high output batteries. It really makes for an entirely different drill. previously, I was using the smaller 2.0 or bigger 4.0 packs, all of which still seemed to struggle to drill a 1/4″ hole.
I’m not advocating to spend even more money, but for me, it’s really a statement at how power hungry these new brushless tools really are, and what an aging battery platform can really do.

Any reason to pick the M12 extend reach ratchet over the pass through? The later is on my wishlist, but I wonder if the former has smaller head or something.

The standard extended length ratchet offers universal compatibility without having to rely on a specialty adapter.
Between the two, I’d go with the Insider. It has a low profile with the included sockets and can work with other sockets with the included adapter.
I haven’t compared the head sizes.

I saw it this morning, and have been trying to think of the use cases all day – can’t come up with one. WHAT in the world is the use for this ratcheting wrench/hammer? I see the description mentions pounding staples/etc – maybe I’m too far from electrical work to understand why that is relevant in a ratcheting wrench. The price seems insane(ly high).

The square ends fit the lags, and nuts for eyebolts, the light companies use on poles. The hammer is probably for driving eyebolts through poles. Milwaukee also make a $200 impact socket for them. I know this because I found one in the road.

I had a similar response when I came upon Milwaukee’s Utility Bucket Light at a cost of about $800 for the bare light.
