First Impression
I am a big fan of structural foam tool boxes, as they are typically crazy-durable. This box looks well designed, and I wouldn’t hesitate to pick one up for my own use, if not for my sizable stash of Dewalt ToughSystem tool boxes (reviewed here and compared to Bosch’s L-Boxx system).
$40 might seem like a lot of money for a 26-inch tool box, but structural foam outperforms the thin plastic many inexpensive designs are made from.

Several Home Depot stores near me have what appears to be the same box in a display by the entrance with a sign that says “special buy”. I picked one up to look at it and decided it was not for me – as it seemed to have lots of wasted space. Maybe the shape (ribs, bulges at either end and end niche-handles) contribute to its structural qualities – but add to its footprint without increasing its internal capacity. While not in the same league, for plastic toolboxes – I’m starting to become a fan of the various systainer incarnations – that stack and pack well.

The Stanley 20 & 28 inch boxes have a waterproof gasket, are easily available in Lowes & HD, and are better for the money.
If you really think you need those compartments, get some Flambeau tackle style containers. You can even get waterproof ones.
