I spotted another new Kobalt 24V Max cordless power tool on Lowe’s website – a 24Vx2 “universal” power handle with bristle brush attachment.
As with all of the other new Kobalt 24V cordless outdoor power tools I’ve seen, this bristle brush motor and attachment bundle is kitted with USB-chargeable batteries, plus a multi-port AC adapter.
The Kobalt 48V Max 24Vx2 Universal Connect power handle can work with different attachments, such as a pole saw and hedge trimmer, which are sold separately.

Lowe’s makes no mention of compatibility with any other brands.
2 24V Max batteries are required; Kobalt says:
Two 24V batteries combine for 48V of pure power
Technically, most 24V Max batteries operate at 21.6V nominally, with 2 batteries delivering 43.2V nominally when electrically connected in series. In other words, “48V of pure power” shouldn’t be taken literally, at least in my opinion.
Lowe’s says that the Kobalt sweeper brush measures 21 inches “edge to edge.”
Battery runtime is said to be up to 30 minutes on a single charge, and according to the spec sheet the batteries take 1.67 hours (~100 minutes) to recharge.

The brushless motor power handle has variable speed controls. I would presume that the “up to 30 minutes” of runtime is with the power handle dialed in to its lowest power setting.
At this time, the kit is priced at $299 on Lowe’s website.
It comes with the Universal Connect power handle, 21″ sweeper brush, 2x 3Ah batteries, and a multi-port charger.
This seems interesting to me, but I’m not yet sold on the idea of cordless power tools like a 21″ sweeper brush being powered by 3Ah batteries. While I really like the idea of USB-rechargeable batteries, is that ideal for tools like this?
I spotted additional listings for some of the other Kobalt Universal Connect accessories, such as a 22-inch pole hedge trimmer, and the pricing seems very competitive.

I agree that charging by USB-C alone, for batteries for OPE, seems like a questionable idea.
Maybe if they doubled-up on the chargers? It is a 2x24v tool after all. I realize the wall wart has two outlets, but I imagine it slows down if you charge both at once.
I like this idea of modular light duty OPE overall though.

On one hand, it’d be nice if $300 outdoor power tool kits came with a standard charging dock. On the other hand, one could always buy that separately.
This has been a trend, with Worx, Greenworks, and now Kobalt launching USB OPE kit options.

Some devices use USBC PD standard up to 100watts. Or you could say 24 volts and 4.some amps. It’s feasible but needs a well made cord and etc etc.
What would the brush be good for. I see pro brands have a brush attachment. Echo Husqvarna Stihl etc. But they also have a rubber paddle attachment. I’d be hard to imagine their attachment is different from either of the current attachment standards. The expand it Ryobi and other systems or the prosumer echo Husqvarna Stihl system
And some say those are compatible with some minor modifications.
