Kobalt Double Drive Ratchet Set Bonus Bit Kit

Kobalt’s new Double Drive ratchet set, which we previewed in mid-October, is looking to be a popular gift item this holiday season. The Double Drive mechanism and internal gearing allows the Kobalt ratchet to work where other ratchets don’t have enough room to swing, although it is a bit bulkier than ordinary ratchets.

There’s a new bonus set, available online-only, that comes with a free pouch and extra 50-piece bit set for $25.

This ratchet set is more aimed at homeowners and DIYers than advanced DIYers and professional users.

What’s with the universal spline drive sockets that they include in bundles like this. How many people actually use so many different kind of fasteners? I know of no one who would rather have them, instead of a set of normal 6 or 12 point sockets.

Because the all-in-one socket style appeals to DIYers? I’ve been puzzled by this as well. Seems to be a decision from the marketing department.

How is it packaged? In a case or loose?

In-store package is plastic clamshell, no case. Online-only set comes with a pouch that can presumably hold everything.

I received this socket wench as a birthday present last year and I just love it. It is the handiest tool I have to change the oil with. It has a very soft, east to handle gip and an excellent turning ratio. The oil plug on my Camry was a little snug but since the wrench has a retraction on it then I was able to extend the arm so more to give the wrench a little more leverage. After cracking the bolt it took hardly any effort to completly remove the bolt. Just in awe over the simplicity over this tool. Can hardly wait to use it on other projects. I have already gone out and purchaed the screwdriver version of this tool. Think I’ve found my new favorite brand of tools. From now on I’m going to to stick with purchasing Kobalt tools. They are simply the best. Excellent warranty also.
