Kress Voyager Robotic Lawn Mower

Kress, which is owned my the same company that makes Worx and CAT cordless power tools, has launched a new robotic mower.

There aren’t many details available, and Kress has not responded to our request for more information.

The Kress Voyager is larger than most of the other battery-powered robotic lawn mowers that I’ve seen before.

Kress says the Voyager is a fully autonomous robotic mower and that “the future of landscaping will never look the same.”

Kress Voyager Robotic Lawn Mower Cutting Grass

Confusingly, most of the images and video clips I’ve seen of the Kress Voyager robotic mower show it being operated by a driver.

This one does look larger than all of the robotic lawn mowers I’ve seen before. It should be capable of cutting larger areas, but that also means it’ll need a hefty battery.

When looking for more info about the Kress Voyager, I found a wide price range for their smaller robotic mower.

Kress Smaller Robotic Mower Price

Kress has not yet released pricing details for the Voyager.

From what I could find, Kress’s smaller robot mowers range in price from around $2,000 to $14,999.

For at least the smaller mowers, Kress says you get “satellite-guided centimeter-level accuracy.” It’s not clear if the Voyager is loaded with the same navigational technologies.

Worx Landroid Robot Mower

Need something smaller and immediately available? There are plenty of smaller robotic mowers out there, such as the Worx Landroid.

I can only say that my brother in law has much smaller one from a brand I do not remember for his small and flat backyard.

For him it is very relaxing to sit on the deck and watch it doing its thing.

Honda also recently introduced their version of an autonomous zero turn that is supposed to help with the employment shortage for landscape contractors. For $37,000. Each.

I’m usually a big fan of emerging tech but it’s hard to wrap my head around this.

Upfront cost would be astronomical compared to the low labor cost.

I bought the least expensive well reviewed RTK mower I could find this spring for about 800 bucks. Didn’t want to ever mess with burying wires and now that RTK plus lidar assistance has gotten cheaper, it finally made sense. Handles the hill okay, mows each zone every other day and the lawn looked well manicured and seems healthier.

Breakeven there is 2 years of paying for lawn care (although I didn’t pay for a service, so I just got back my time with kiddos). Hoping it lasts for 5+ years and it’s a phenomenal investment.

On the pro side assuming it’s like 10x the cost of a ZTR

Not much for consumer or home mowers but commercial contractors that do big lots, like what you find in industrial parks, or the sides of highways, and also golf courses often have a few reel mowers. They are considered much better than a traditional blade mower. Also a lot more expensive to buy and costs more to sharpen.

I don’t know if it is still a thing, but I had heard a few years ago, that many of the small robotic mowers were often stolen.
