Leatherman Skeletool CX Multi-Tool Open

Over at Amazon, there’s a Lightning Deal going on right now, where they’re offering a decent discount on Leatherman’s Skeletool CX multi-tool.

The deal is valid today, 12/18/2015, ending at 3pm ET unless supplies run out sooner.

Check out our review of the Leatherman Skeletool CX here. The Skeletool CX continues to be one of my favorite multi-tools, and is perhaps my most-used tool. My Leatherman OHT is slowly catching up.

The other version of the Skeletool is still on sale for $30 at Home Depot, and there are still some in stock at many stores.

The CX offers a plain edge blade that’s made from better steel (154CM), it has a carbon fiber handle scale, and is finished with tungsten DLC coating for greater scratch resistance.

If my Leatherman Skeletool multi-tools were all to vanish into thin air today, I’d buy a CX over the plain version. I did just buy another non-CX version, because the sale price was too good to pass up.

Sale Price: $50.72

I bought mine 7-1/2 years ago, through Amazon, for about $61, and that was with a “Gold Box” discount. The retail price at the time was $64.

Its retail price now, before Lightning Deal discount, seems to be $67 on Amazon, which is about what the current street price is too.

The ‘Buy Now’ link goes to a toilet plunger. A nice toilet plunger but probably not what you meant to link to.

      Whoops, thanks, *fixed*!

What happened is I made a late update to the other Lighting Deal post (https://toolguyd.com/amazon-lightning-tool-deals-for-12182015/) with 2 entries from the “industrial supply” category, and I guess it stuck in my clipboard.

At 1pm ET Amazon was saying 9% claimed. Add a bit set and the extender that adapts from their rectangular bit to regular hex bits and you are all set.

It’s a very nice tool, hope they really improved the blade steel, mine’s got tiny points of rust (it’s the standard version)
