Lowe’s has been promoting this new deal, where you buy a Bosch 18V cordless power tool starter kit and get a free tool.
There are a lot of “free tool” deals at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and various online tool dealers right now.
Home Depot alone has over a dozen flagship free tool deals for the 2025 holiday season – see 15 Home Depot Free Tool Deals are Live – and others on top of that.

This new promo from Lowe’s might be the best deal of its kind that I’ve seen so far.

The deal requires you to buy this Bosch 18V starter set, which comes with 2x compact 4Ah batteries and a 4A charger, for $179.
There are quite a few tools you can choose as the free gift item:
- Circular saw
- Brushless drill
- Oscillating mult-tool
- Reciprocating saw
- X-Lock angle grinder
- Jobsite blower
- Brushless sander
- Brushless jig saw
- Profactor brushless 7-1/4″ miter saw

Wait, what?! Yes, it appears that Lowe’s will give you a cordless miter saw with the purchase of a Bosch 18V starter kit.
The Bosch battery and charger starter kit is priced at $179, and the miter saw is valued at $339. The lowest price I could find is $299 at Amazon.
So you get a starter kit AND a cordless miter saw, all for $179.

There’s a catch. As someone pointed out in a message to me on social media, the 4Ah batteries aren’t ideally matched to the miter saw. They’ll work, ideally the saw would be powered by one of Bosch’s higher performance batteries.
Unfortunately, even though the promotion just started, the miter saw is sold out online and stores probably have limited stock. Ebay is already being flooded with listings for the miter saw, suggesting that resellers bought up all of Lowe’s inventory.
For my area, there’s no way to order the starter kit with the miter saw online, and also no way to check local inventory without calling a local store. You might have better luck.
The other options are good too, but it’s the miter saw that makes this the best deal of the season so far. Hopefully either Lowe’s finds a way to restock, or Bosch lets their online tool dealers offer a similar deal.

The next-best deal of the holiday 2025 season, at least in my opinion, is also at Lowe’s. Buy this Dewalt Powerpack starter kit for $449, with tabless cell 8Ah batteries and a fast charger, and you get THREE free tools.
It’s not as good as getting a cordless miter saw with starter kit for $179, but it’s a great value for anyone looking to build up a Dewalt 20V Max tool kit. The selection features a number of premium XR brushless tools.

Finally got a great deal from Lowe’s. Thank you for showing this, I have wanted a cordless miter saw and today I’m going to pick it up!
blocky
Dang, miter saw showing OOS already.
Josephus
I had one in my cart using their app and the batteries were listed at $65 for some reason. The miter saw was in stock as well. Going to checkout corrected the price to $180 ish with tax. Already have the saw so I passed. It’s pretty good for its size.

Dang Stu, gotta blow up the spot.
It’s been an option for a while, but mostly OOS the whole time. They have the kit available.
Fwiw I called my local store, they said stock coming in the next few weeks, so I’ve been checking over and over and over.
This season has such good deals I’m actually hating being a part of this hyper consumption culture we’ve developed. My dopamine system is too over targeted, needing spreadsheets to make sure I’m not getting hosed by modern pricing tactics. I should just take a step back, I just happened to need some tools recently and can still return/shop around so I’m stuck keeping tabs on these prices out of a sense of American Honor(tm) to be a smart consumer.
Can’t wait to get an agentic helper, the personal services of one man such as you can only fight corporate retailers so much. I need SkyNet@Home against these apps.
Ps good luck to everyone wanting this cheap af saw, may the odds ever be in your favor.
Stuart
Around 17 years ago I learned “That’s such a good deal, here’s my money!!” and “That’s such a good deal, I must share it with others!!” both deliver a dopamine response. =)

That elicits the “I couldn’t afford not to buy it” rational ..

plot twist: 10 inch saw is also in the options now, still unavailable. I’m pretty annoyed that I cant even get the jig saw for it, any of the three listings.
Rick
Regarding the starter kit, I’m not sure why you wrote that there is “no way to check local inventory without calling your store”.
If I set my location to Lowe’s store 1069 I can see the inventory levels for the starter pack (“10 in Stock”) and the saw (“1 in Stock”). The stock count is shown just above the “Add to Cart” button.
Of course there is no guarantee those levels are accurate, or will be the same when you walk into the store, but they are better than nothing.
Am I misunderstanding something?
Stuart
Thanks – I adjusted the wording. I see “this item is out of stock” with no way at all to check local inventory. Calling around the area with the item number would be the only way to check local inventory on the miter saw.
Rick
Re “no way at all to check local inventory”, that’s inconsistent with what I am seeing. If I set my store location to 1792 and display that miter saw, I see this immediately above the “Add to Cart” button:
“Out of Stock at Pompano Beach Lowe’s [Check Other Stores (as a link)]
1 in Stock at W. Boca Raton Lowe’s (9.1) miles”
That’s very helpful (if it’s true!). That said, I find Lowe’s web site to be pretty flaky sometimes, so I am not entirely surprised that we are not seeing the same thing.
Stuart
Below that is an offer for a protection plan. There’s no add to cart button, and no way to see if any local stores have one. Presumably there aren’t any within drivable or shippable distance of my location.
If I change my location to your store, it shows options, and then I’m able to change the zip. After I change the zip, it then says “unavailable for pickup” and doesn’t list out any stores at all.
Stores sometimes have inventory that aren’t listed online, in which case the only way to know is by calling stores with the item number. Driving around can be a huge waste of time, even when inventory is reported online. I unfortunately learned that the hard way many times now.
Rick
Yes, we are clearly having different experiences on Lowe’s website. I can’t explain why you cannot see the inventory level even when we both set our location to the same store.
And I agree that the inventory levels shown by Lowe’s (and HD) should be taken with a grain of salt anway, but at least they may give some indication of which store is more likely to stock the item you want.
Stuart
@Rick, I can see inventory levels for your store. But then as soon as I check for inventory near me, it blanks out. All signs point to inventory being cleared out in my area.

The 1 in stock at Lowes is usually the opened demonstration model that comes out of the stores inventory

What size battery is needed? Will 4ah do a few cuts for the miter saw? Thinking of adding Bosch to my lineup with this offer.
Stuart
I haven’t tested this saw. Generally speaking, such a battery should be fine for a lot of cuts, but might start to bog down with very demanding cuts. 2x boards? With other miter saws of this type, you might not notice a difference between 4Ah and 8Ah batteries. An oak board at the max thickness and width the saw can handle? That’s where the battery selection tends to make a noticeable difference. For in between tasks, you might or might not notice a difference, it really depends on the brand and model.

I thought it was a mistake at first, that saw is usually BOGO’d with the 8ah batteries if anything. Being a “Profactor” model I think it needs the bigger batteries to get full performance too. I did actually see some in stock physically in store, and it took self control to not get it. I’ve already got more 4ah batteries then I can keep up with and for the amount of times I use a miter saw on the go my little old corded kobalt with a generator works fine (have lots of experience with the big 12″ Bosch Glide miter saw for shop use). I did go for the 8ah with smart charger and BOGO’d the brushless reciprocating saw as that was the last tool I needed to update from the old brushed models, and I could use more 8ah batteries (I also got 2 when Lowe’s had them for $65 each a month or so ago). I was having trouble debating between the 2 pack of 8ah batteries or the battery + charger kit, but I will say the charger is nice. Lowe’s product listing online is wrong though and says it is the connected version, which would have been nice, but honestly selecting between charge modes with the built in button is more user intuitive anyways. I was a little bummed at first but don’t mind too much not messing with an app and Bluetooth.
LE
Forgot to mention Lowe’s kept adding 20% off and single transaction to my account over the last couple weeks, I think I got 3 of them. Ended up getting the 8ah + charger kit bogo with reciprocating saw for 20% off to sweeten the deal. I think I used some rewards money from extra point days to get more money off. I wil say for as much flak as Lowe’s deservedly gets sometimes, the rewards program they started and deals have been good to me.
Matt_T
Yeah the Lowes listing is messed up. I’ve got the C variant and after playing with the modes I’ve left it on regular. One useful thing the app will do is give a health report on Core batteries.
Nathan
The DeWalt deel seems to have added some tools. I don’t really need them but 449 for 2 big boy batteries and a recipe saw a caulk gun and a trim router or variable speed omt would be fun. They add a ratchet to the list and I might bite

Lowe’s appeared to have subsequently added the Bosch Profactor 10-in 18-volt Dual Bevel Compound Cordless Miter Saw (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Bosch-Profactor-10-in-18-volt-Dual-Bevel-Compound-Cordless-Miter-Saw-Cordless/5014014917) as a FREE GIFT WITH PURCHASE option, just to see it quickly become OUT OF STOCK when I went to pay.

I really like the idea of a cordless miter saw. Not sure I’m ready to get into a new-for-me platform yet though. Even as nice as the Bosch is.
I’ve been happy with my MetaboHPT tools, and they have a cordless 10 inch sliding miter saw that has a pretty good reputation. I can’t find it in stock anywhere though. I’m kinda hoping that it will be restocked for the holiday shopping season. If it could be promoted, while combined with MetaboHPT’s new tabless battery, that would be great.

The MultiVolt 10-in single-bevel (non-slider) miter saw was $149 online, at Lowes.com the Thanksgiving Day last year, and then on Amazon.com in mid-February of this year.

I went to my local Lowe’s and showed the Front End Customer Service person going through the steps to buy the battery set and then trying to select the 10 inch (not the 7 1/4) mitre saw.
I asked what do I need to do to buy this, in store or for delivery either way. They got the store manager who called the Bosch sales rep who took down my number and name and told me it would be delivered to the store next week Friday for me to purchase.
The 10-in cordless saw is listed price $449. The battery charger set costs $179. This was in Arlington Heights, Illinois. I expressed my thanks and the store manager told me they honor everything offered online and want to take care of their customers.
I hope this helps people make the purchase they want!
Rob
That’s the only Lowes in Illinois that has more than a budget drill and a saw from 2009 for Bosch offerings. I’ll have to make a trip if they’re honouring the sale.
Rob
FYI, I have that 10” and it’s good in all ways except the worst dust miter saw dust extraction ever. Not expecting much from a miter saw but the Bosch spits it all in every direction but toward the chute.
Paul
I bought the miter saw and 4ah battery kit and i bought the 8ah starter kit with the free impact wrench. I then sold the 4ah kit and the impact wrench and have a pretty good deal on a miter saw, 8ah battery and rapid charger.
ColeTrain
What you pay for the 8 ah starter kit?
ColeTrain
Tried the other day… Sold out. Stopped at Lowe’s after work today and saw one … Just got a metabo HPT 12 inch a couple months ago but they had one left so I left with it. Might do what Paul did and but the 8 ah and sell the rest since this is likely the only Bosch tool I’ll own. This deal is killer… Thanks
Robin Dragoo
Looks like that deal isn’t available at my local Lowe’s. I’m not looking to buy one, just was curious nonetheless of their marketing shows the saw as a part of the deal. Looks like everything else is though.
