Makita 12V CXT USB Power Source

Makita has come out with a new 12V Max CXT accessory, the ADP06 USB power source. This is a single-port USB adapter that has a max power output of 2.1A, making it capable of charging your power-hungry electronics devices.

Thank you to Andrew for the heads-up and for his ToolGuyd Forum post!

The USB power adapter has some nice features, such as a rubber flap-covered power, and an on-off power switch. This part’s important, as some USB power adapters will drain a battery, even if nothing’s plugged in.

And there’s a belt hook, which makes it easy to charge a device on the go.

Belt clip, covered port, power switch, and 2.1A output. Nice.

Price: ~$28

If you’re a Makita 18V user, you might be interested to know that the ADP05 18V dual-port USB power source has dropped in price, to $19.

Makita 12V CXT LED Flashlight

Although we already posted about the new ML103 compact LED flashlight adapter, as part of our post on Makita’s 12V Max CXT expansion, it seemed appropriate to mention it again.

The slim flashlight attachment provides 100 lumens of brightness, and 28 hours of runtime when paired with a 4.0Ah battery pack. There aren’t really any bells and whistles, but it’s the bare bones design that makes it attractive.

nice feature set. like the flap cover if it’s sturdy enough.

and the switch is something I wish my dewalt had

Very nice. The 18v Makita is the leader in the segment for value and features. My M12 is compact but I dislike the power button on it. My M18 should realistically have 2 USB output. The Dewalt I haven’t purchased for my 20v Max batteries because of it’s low power output and lack of positive connection to the battery, it’s easily bumped off from my understanding.

Interesting. Too bad they didn’t combine the flashlight with the USB power source.

Would be cool if they combined that compact light with a USB power source. The belt clip on the power source should be removable to make it more compact if you wanted.

Don’t think there is enough room to do the electronics sets for both the light and the USB power conversion and stability – in that small a package.

maybe a smaller light and a switch that did light-usb-both-off.

I have it on the 18V platform. Works great when it wants to. I have to unplug and replug my devices pretty regularly. Might be a fluke, but it’s mildly annoying. The dewalt version I had worked flawlessly, and knowing how much longer you can use the battery was very convenient.

Handy in a pinch but another power tool part to keep around.

Considering the tiny size of powerful flash lights and an Anker 5x USB IQ charger … they can certainly combine a powerful LED flash light and dual USB in the size of those units.

Here’s another idea: add a USB charge port or two to the battery charger 🙂
