Happy New Year!
I hope everyone is staying warm and safe.
Let’s talk gifts! Did you get or give anything fun?
Oh, and the photo above? I found that display at a Harbor Freight store. I couldn’t think of a suitable holiday-themed image and didn’t want to use AI, so I picked something random from my phone.

Thanks for avoiding AI art. I’d take either of those compressors over the Kobalt 26g I bought last year. It’s the loudest piece of equipment I’ve ever owned. My kids scream and my dog runs away when I turn it on. Merry Christmas to everyone except the Kobalt compressor engineers.

My wife’s gift to me was a certificate for any new tools I want, price is based on heirloom quality!
Last year was Lie Nielsen chisels and veritas planes but she wasn’t sure for this year so went homemade card.
It’s funny because the daughter and I knew she wanted boots but we don’t want the responsibility of picking those out so went homemade card too made a 3d printed gift card for an all day shopping trip that we accompany her on as long as she feeds us and we will carry her bags and not complain to much. lol
We both knew what each other wanted but it’s a lot of pressure.
We did a good job of tricking her with nesting Amazon boxes with random kids toys in each box then hid the card in the second to last box taped to the bottom of the box.
Daughter saved that brown paper that comes in Amazon and some Kraft paper from the shop and hand drew the decoration on the wrapping paper.
It was a huge hit

👌👌
I’ve also been saving that Kraft paper that comes with online orders and using it as wrapping paper for the last few years.

It makes a handy drop cloth for messy projects too.

Merry Christmas!
The wife got me a few pairs of Carhartt work pants. I spend my money on tools so she gave me the perfect gift because I needed them.

So I think DeWalt compressors are rebadged puma compressors. Some are made in Memphis yes of foreign components occasionally.
So look up a puma they go on sale time to time seem to be well made. I’ve almost bought one a few times but cordless power has caught up so well

Meanwhile Merry Christmas and happy new year and any others I might not know
Stuart
I don’t believe so. All of the Dewalt and Craftsman air compressors I looked at recently were imports, even where there used to be USA-assembled models.

My wife got me the 10 in. metabo miter saw from amazon, partly as hint to build the shed already. I’m not complaining.

Merry Christmas to everyone!
This is the first year in a while that I made any significant tool purchases. My gifts to myself were a Jet JSG-6DC combo 6×48″ belt & 12″ disc sander and a Jessem Mast-R-Lift Excel II router table. Those are tools I have needed for a long time but I got stuck in the psychological trap of not wanting cheapos and not wanting to spend the money on anything nice, so I bought nothing at all and kept doing various work-arounds. This year didn’t have many other distractions and there were good sales so things worked out well.
I also received a Lie-Nielsen #2 bench plane, which I am very happy about!
I gifted a bunch of art supplies to someone in my family. Among the assortment I put together was a big set of Ohuhu alcohol markers. I really want to play with those myself. They appear to be just as good as Copics but at a much more reasonable price.

Not tool related, but the wife got me a miniature remote control excavator and a miniature remote control dump truck. I spent Christmas morning loading teaspoonfulls of scrambled eggs into the dump and “serving” them.
