What are you going to use the pair for? I’m struggling to justify the purchase and looking for ideas 🙂
The pictures show storing bulky consumables like pipe fittings, which would be great if I was a plumber or electrician, but I’m just a DIYer.

For one, I plan for either woodworking right angle clamps and accessories, or rotary and flex-shaft tools and accessories. For the other, I’m not sure yet, maybe electrical test meters and accessories.
I like this size because it nicely fits shelving. I can fit an organizer on the bottom, and organizer or tool bag on top.
I have a couple of smaller “ammo can” type plastic tool boxes, but they’re too small for tools and supplies. The same company has larger tool boxes for $30-40, but I’ve always been reluctant to pay that much for thin plastic. The Packout seems more durable.
I can *always* use more tool boxes, especially to help me gradually switch over from Bosch L-Boxx.

Clamps are a good idea, though I most often use clamps in my workshop area, where they are just wall mounted. I have my Dremel and accessories in a Milwaukee half size organizer already, fits pretty well. The compact toolbox seems pretty deep something like that?
You bring up a good point about modular systems. I have a mix of L-Boxxs, Packouts, and Makita’s interlocking boxes (not sure if they have a brand name). Other than the cognitive dissidence of having different boxes all over the place, I’m not sure there is much utility for me moving tools from perfectly good Bosch and Makita boxes into new Milwaukee ones. If I ever build the Instagram-worth shop a dream about, having a single toolbox system would be nice. Not sure they will happen anytime in the near future with 2×4’s being 5 bucks a stick though…

I have a Foredom with motor, foot pedal, optional speed controller, plus hand pieces and a Dremel hand piece adapter and Dremel-style router base. Everything is split in two L-Boxxes, I hope to put essentials in one box and less used stuff in a storage shelf or cabinet.
I have a lot of right angle clamps that are either heavily or seldom used, and so I need to move them from active workspace to storage quickly.
I’m finding that drawers, cabinets, and shelves work when I need one or two items, and modular tool boxes work great when I need to move groups of tools and supplies and accessories.
And then I need a place to put everything that’s inactive use. I was going to build L-Boxx docks for this, but Packout is easier, more convenient, and more flexible.

I set mine up to hold my kreg jig and accessories, and I 3D printed bins for the top tray to hold all the different size kreg screws.

I have one and I use it to hold my drill and impact. There is enough room for me to fit a couple bit sets, a tape measure, levels, stud finder, knife, pencil, charger, 10oz rip hammer, and a handful of hardware. It took a minute to figure out how to make everything work with the cubbies, but I have been really happy with it. I have M12, I think you could make any compact tools work with this setup. My kobalt hammer drill would be tricky for example.

So far this is my favorite box, in the one I have, I keep M12 rivet tool, Fuel Hackzaw, Fuel cutoff tool, Fuel multitool, Fuel Die grinders and the installation drill/driver kit as well as all the bits, bobs, blades and batteries that go with those items…
I have one each of Milwaukee’s tool box selection that I would trade for more of this style.

I use it for a cordless circular saw. It’s easier to carry than the 22inch without a cart.

I have several of these, and they are great for my circ saw along with jamming in 2-3 smaller drills, bit boxes, etc.
Somewhat counter-intuitively, toolboxes and workshop storage are actually much more personal / subjective than the tools themselves depending on your specific user case and preference. One advantage of a “taller” packout case like this is that it is much easier to carry about than the (seemingly more popular) “suitecase” shaped packout cases.

We had a batch of Stepvans in our plumbing business. One of our plumbers was 6’8″ and he could stand up inside. So those vans could accommodate some mighty tall (and unstable) pack out stacks. But why would you want to ?

Noice! Just snagged two! They were already sold out….but they let me backorder. I use the PACKOUT for just about everything but tools. Camping gear, shooting gear, fishing gear, etc. I have various mounts on my bedslide and backseat storage platform. Depending on what adventure I’m going on I just grab the boxes I need from my garage shelves and snap it in and roll out. I really hope they don’t retire this system…..I’m not that old and I’ve got about a billion invested into it.

I have one, not as useful as I’d like. It’d be 4X better if they had designed a safety latch like the large box which locks the lid when the handle is up. As designed now, you cannot carry it without doing up the front latch. Missed opportunity imo.
