Over at Home Depot, today’s deal of the day features 3 Milwaukee M18 cordless power tool kits, two of them being very attractively-priced combos.
This 9-tool combo is similar to the kit on sale last year and the year before, but with different battery packs – (1) compact battery, and (1) XC higher capacity battery.

Update: The image and model suggests you’ll get a drill/driver, and not a hammer drill as mentioned in the product description.
The kit comes with:
Hammerdrill/driver (525 in-lbs)- Right angle drill/driver
- Impact driver (1/4″ hex) (1400 in-lbs)
- 6-1/2″ circular saw
- High torque impact wrench (450 ft-lbs)
- LED worklight
- Hackzall compact reciprocating saw
- Compact blower
- Oscillating multi-tool
- Multi-voltage charger
- (1) 1.5Ah battery, (1) 3.0Ah XC battery
- 2 contractor bags
Price: $499
This gives you a lot for the money. Every time it comes around, I receive at least an email or two afterwards, asking if it’ll come back. No, it most likely will NOT be on sale again this holiday season. This will probably be your only chance to buy it.

There’s also a 5-tool cordless combo kit at excellent pricing.

Thanks to Ktash for the early morning heads-up!
Update: There’s Also a 7-Tool Set
4tech mentioned a 7-tool combo kit in the comments, and it also looks like a good deal. It looks to be the same as the 9-tool combo, above, but without the oscillating multi-tool and impact wrench, and costing $100 less.
Price: $399

How would the 9 tool kit compare the the Dewalt 7 tool kit that is the same price?

Stuart
That’s a tough one.
Dewalt: Better drill, brushless oscillating multi-tool, higher capacity battery packs, a 3rd battery pack (4.0Ah). And a large durable rolling tool box to keep them in. The circular saw and reciprocating saws are slightly lesser “combo” versions, compared to the premium ones currently offered.
Milwaukee: High torque impact wrench and right angle drill, regular versions of their saws.
If you don’t need that Milwaukee impact wrench, the Dewalt’s the better buy, in my opinion. IF you can get it – it’ll require legwork to visit or call your local Home Depot store to find one in stock.
Jesse
Thanks for the reply.
I also noticed the description of the Milwaulkee sets on HD it appears they have a discrepancy. It says it is a hammer drill but then lists the drill model as “2606-20 M18 brushed drill driver” which is not a hammer drill? I am seeing this correctly? The picture also looks to support the fact that it is not a hammer drill.
Stuart
Thanks! I added a warning at the top of the post.
The descriptions all say hammer drill, but you’re right about the 2606-20 being a drill and not a hammer drill.
I most likely won’t be able to get someone at Home Depot or Milwaukee to confirm before the end of the day.
Last year’s deal had the hammer drill, so perhaps they simply copied/pasted and didn’t notice the difference. https://toolguyd.com/dewalt-milwaukee-9pc-cordless-combo-kit-deals-12012016/

Hmmm….that $279 kit, as a starter or apprentice kit is very attractive. The battery packs are the only down fall but, if I were buying into a system right now, this one would be near the top of the list

Also, Lowe’s has some Dewalt kits as their Deal of the Day.
Adrian
Stu how would you compare the hammer drill in the 5 piece kit to the drill in the dewalt kit here? Dewalt has brushless, but is milwaukee’s drill just as good?

Stuart
Milwaukee: Compact brushed motor hammer drill.
Dewalt: Premium brushless 3-speed hammer drill, plus it comes with a FlexVolt battery in that bundle.
The Milwaukee drill is going to be capable, but it’s not at the same level as the Dewalt.
You’d have to bump up to the Milwaukee M18 Fuel 2nd-gen brushless drill for the comparison to be fair.
Adrian
okay then how about this battle. This is probably a closer fight. It seems Milwaukee doesn’t have brushless in the same price bracket.

Dewalt bonus bundle, if you could find it.
Adrian
Think its still worth it if I never plan on using a 60v tool?

The $499 set is actually $399 on Home Depot’s website under Model # 2695-27CX and Internet #302740102. It lists the set as a 7-tool package but the description identifies the same 9-tool set.

Stuart
I’d chalk that up to being a copy-pasting error. But it does look like another good deal, not as good, but it’s also cheaper. Thanks, I added it to the end of the post.
4tech
Thanks Stuart. It does appear to be an error since the title, picture and bullet points all reflect a 7-tool set except the bulk paragraph listing the items of the 9-tool set. I reached out to Home Depot and they said it should include what’s in the description BUT if it is not as stated then it can be returned for a refund. They would not be able to price match for the 9-tool set if it is an error.
Stuart
I am 99.9% certain it’s an error.
They won’t price-match the 9-tool combo to the 7-tool price, and if you buy the 7-tool combo, they’re not going to send you the 2 other tools for free. The most likely result would be time wasted in having to return things.

Being a Bosch Fanboy, I have finally decided I’ll have to make a move to Milwaukee in order to get certain tools. Especially in relation to Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing poser tools. Specifically 1/2″ Impact Wrench and 3/8* Ratchet.
That said if I’m making the move, I am going with the Brushless/Fuel line (Not necessarily OneKey). Problem is very few deals this year on those newer Brushless/Fuel models.
Overthinking? Probably, but once I have made this a goal, I won’t be happy with anything less, no matter the deal.
Christmas Wish; I wish Milwaukee would offer a set that isn’t geared to Carpentry/Woodworking.
Automotive Mechanics Fuel Set to include; 1/2″Impact Wrench (2767), Hammer Drill, 3/8″ Impact Wrench, Hackzall and/or Metal Circ Saw, Light with magnet, Grinder, and 3/8″ and 1/4″ Ratchets.
Or Electrician’s Fuel Set to include; Hammer Drill, 1/4″ Hex Impact, Hackzall and/or Metal Circ Saw, Grinder, right Angle Drill, Light with magnet, and maybe Bandsaw.

Ok I’ve bought my much needed hammer drill+impact set after doing tons of research but keep coming back to toolguyd.com and wanting to buy every deal of the day there is. What is this illness? lol
Jason
Yeah – visiting this site is dangerous. Finally took the plunge on a Dewalt hammer/impact set (purchased on Monday), and I’m still finding the /need/ to sift through these deals.
kent
I understand that these deals are meant to get people to buy into the battery system, and keep you there.
But because they always include the basic tools (drill & impact), they aren’t a good deal for me at all (I already have the drill & impact).
I really with there was a way to buy a small set of tools w/o a charger (and w/o the drill & impact gun) at a discount.
