While finishing up my post about the new Makita cordless impact driver kit, I checked to see if Milwaukee’s single-battery kit was on sale. It’s currently described as being discontinued and unavailable, but I did find something of interest…

There is a new Milwaukee M18 impact driver and LED worklight combo kit, 2656-21L.

I was initially hesitant, thinking that this was an – uch – incandescent worklight, it is an LED light. It’s got a pivoting head, a hook built into the back of the handle, and it typically retails for $49.

Although not quite as post-worthy as the $99 impact driver kit I believe will become available for another holiday shopping season, $119 for a cordless impact driver, usable LED worklight, M18 and M12 multi-voltage charger, 1.5Ah battery, and carrying bag is still quite good.

Price: $119 $99

Bonus: Use coupon code OCTOBERHD for an extra $10 off! The final price would then be $109 plus tax. The coupon expires any day now. I *think* that the coupon code is only good through the end of today (10/26/2016), but am hoping that it will be extended to the end of the month.

Price: $109 after coupon

At that price, $109, you’re only spending $10 more than if the single-battery impact driver kit were currently available. And hey, you might even use the LED flashlight.

Update: The price has dropped to $99, and this will be its Black Friday 2016 price! If you spent more, inquire about a price adjustment. If that’s no longer an option, you might be able to do a return and rebuy.

They also have a drill version too of this kit I think. Seems like its a kit put together for the holiday season, likely to be on special for $99 between BF and Xmas and perhaps lower on BF. IMO its not worth anymore than $99, the kit with two 1.5ah batteries, impact, hammer drill, charger, and bag can be had for $150-160 now after special discounts.

It sounds like you haven’t really taken a look at the LED work light that’s included in the kit. Here’s my take.

A few months ago, Home Depot ran a one-day special with the light above and a 4.0 Ah battery for $49, which is the normal list price of the light alone. I figured that buying a couple was a no-brainer, even if I never used the light. It’s like getting the batteries for half price and they throw in a free light on top of it.

I’m happy with the light, which is (IIRC) 130 lumens. Not super-brilliant but enough to see where I’m going. It’s also bright enough and portable enough to be good for repairs under the sink. The battery life is extremely long — I use mine for a few minutes a day mostly taking the dog out at night and am recharging those batteries only once a month or so. Probably at least 20 hours per charge on the 4.0 Ah batteries.

I don’t recall ever seeing this light in person, and appreciate your feedback!
