Milwaukee 8-in-1 Shockwave Multi-Bit Nut Driver Screwdriver

Milwaukee Tool has launched a new 8-in-1 multi-bit screwdriver with Shockwave impact-rated bits and nut drivers, model 48-22-2922.

I put together a single image (shown above) that breaks down exactly what you get.

There’s a screwdriver handle, and a double-ended shaft with inserts, similar to other multi-bit screwdrivers.

What’s different here is that the 5/16″ and 3/8″ sockets are actually removable nut drivers.

Here are all the screwdriver bit and nut driver sizes: Phillips #2, slotted 1/4″, Square #1, #2, and nut drivers in 1/4″, 5/16″, 3/8″, and 9/16″.

Milwaukee says that all 4 of the screwdriver bits and 4 nut driver sizes are impact-rated for use with impact tools.

The screwdriver bits look to be standard 1/4″ hex insert bits, but the nut drivers look proprietary so as to fit the double-ended bit holders.

Impact-resistant features include “Wear Guard” tips that holds up to wear and maintains bit fit over time, and a ShockZone for absorbing peak torque to help prevent breakage during high impact use.

The handle has an anti-peel cushion grip for lasting comfort and control.

This looks like a convenient multi-bit screwdriver with enhanced versatility.

I have to admit I don’t like double ended bits at all, and avoid tools that use them.

I believe those are standard 1/4″ hex insert bits in double-ended holders, and that this is where the 1/4″ nut driver size comes from. If so, the double-ended design allows for quick bit changes and the 1/4″ hex sockets could be loaded with any other insert bits.

Will it work in the m12 ratchet? Kinda looks like the hex for that.

I have not seen any indication it could be used with the ratchet.

Ratchet with a hex drive? Not sure if I have seen that. I have the M12 (angle) nut runner with 1/4 hex. Other than that all other wrenches have square and drivers have hex.

Are Square drive screws really more common these days than Torx? I’ll probably pick this up anyway, and then swap in Torx bits.
