Milwaukee Packout Cooler Bag

Philip wrote in with a tip that select Milwaukee Packout bags were on sale at Home Depot. We found similar pricing on two of the Packout bags at Acme Tool as well. Thank you Philip for the tip!

The Packout cooler, tech bag, and backpack are the ones on sale. All three launched at around the same time, in November 2018. We don’t when the “special buy” pricing will end.

First up, the Milwaukee Packout cooler is currently on sale for $50. The Packout cooler, model 48-22-8302, is currently ~$70 at other Milwaukee dealers.

While we have not yet used this model, I’ve used the non-Packout Milwaukee cooler bag before, and it’s worked out well.

The Packout cooler bag measures 15.75″ long, 15.75″ tall, and 11.81″ wide. It has a food-grade leak-proof liner, 5 storage compartments, padded shoulder strap, tape measure clip with bottle opener, and is said to be able to hold ice for up to 24 hours.

Milwaukee officially describes the Packout cooler as a durable jobsite lunch cooler, but I’m sure you can find other uses for it.

Milwaukee Packout Tech Tool Bag

The Milwaukee Packout tech bag, model 48-22-8300, is on sale for $90. A search of other online retailers shows that is regular price is ~$125.

Milwaukee Packout Tech Tool Bag Internal Compartments

This bag is designed for on-the-go techs, featuring a protected laptop (or large tablet) sleeve, 58 total storage pockets, impact-resistant polymer base, and what looks to be molle-style webbing on the front for additional storage options. There is also a hardshell pocket designed for protecting sensitive electronics or equipment, and a plastic-reinforced jab saw pocket. The side walls are reinforced and the bag made from durable 1680D ballistic material and metal hardware.

Milwaukee Packout Tool Backpack

The Milwaukee Packout 15″ tool backpack, model no. 48-22-8301, is also on sale. It’s currently $100 at Home Depot and ~$135 at other Milwaukee tool dealers.

The Packout backpack features 48 total pockets, a hardshell electronics and equipment pocket, tape measure clip, daisy chains for additional storage, reinforced side walls, reinforced jab saw pocket, and a load-bearing harness with sternum strap.

Product photos also show off the reinforced carrying handles, a tape loop, and expanding side pockets that could fit water bottles.

I paid $30 for a cooler almost identical to the Milwaukee cooler except it’s blue and it’s also bigger than the Milwaukee cooler. How many cans does the Milwaukee cooler hold? Other than the Milwaukee logo and packout logo, what makes it a $70 cooler? Or even a $50 cooler? It must have exceptional insulation for a cooler of that size to cost that much. Although I take it that is likely not the case being that it’s a typical food grade cooler bag. Holds ice for 24 hours under which conditions? Solid ice or melted ice? It’s a typical food grade cooler that is unquestionably overpriced. I’m not saying that it’s not a quality product, but it is certainly not worth the price considering you can get very similar style coolers for a much cooler price. And who puts a tape measure on their cooler? Yeah, I can’t think of anyone that would do that either.

Apparently, they also think enough people are bring glass bottles to the job site. I know I read some guy only buying the good Coke, but super uncommon to see glass in cooler anymore. I suppose if you are taking it tail gaiting…

When not put a 12v battery and integrate a vacuum sealer to keep my half eaten sammich fresh. There’s your innovation.

I grabbed the cooler for $30. Figure I can’t dislike it at that price. I know I’ll never have to worry about it tipping over, being mostly attached to the large box in my trunk. Did I ever worry about that before?

Now the bigger question, do I to get a half size organizer for my dry snacks? 😀

The selling point and price point is the integration into the packout system.

    11.81” wide?

Dang! I was in the market for an 11 and 3/4” wide cooler. This one’s too big AND too metric.
