Our fourth and final featured “Most Valuable Tool of the Week Contest” entry is for a hand impact tool. These tools can be used to manually free frozen, rusted, or other such stubborn or stuck fasteners.

This is what 2WYKD had to say about the tool:

Maybe I think this is the most valuable because I don’t have one yet or because when I get to use it I absolutely love it, either way I nominate the hand impact!! Any name brand will do, I am going to go with Craftsman b/c there’s a Sears right here if I ever do break it. For $25 it’s a tool that lasts a lifetime and proves itself invaluable over and over

There are so many bolts on my motorcycle that are made out of something with the constancy of a low quality cheese that I need to get one of these instead of asking to borrow one every week.

We have seen these hand impact tools in action, and they are remarkably helpful for removing tight fasteners. These impact tools can also be used for for tightening fasteners, but most users will want to use a more controllable driving method instead.

Hand impact tools can be found for about $20-25 for the 3/8″ drive size unit.

When it comes to removing seat fasteners these are hard to beat. They are also great on motorcycle bolts.

The Vessel 1/2″ drive is among one of my favorites, Craftsman also makes an easily accessable version.

Judging from its looks, the Craftsman version is likely a rebadge of KD Tools’ impact driver, but that Vessel version looks quite a bit different. Thanks for pointing it out!

I’m going to invent a craftsman autohammer that incorporates an imapct driver in the head, so you can remove those stuck screws in tight areas.

oops I meant “impact” and it would be great for under-dash work

The Craftsman I’ve seen is 1/2″ drive, not saying they aren’t from the same parent company, just that there is A difference.
could very well be a rebadged

You may be right, and for all we know, Lisle could be the OEM for both KD and Craftsman. Come to think of it, I don’t recall seeing a 1/2″ KD version, but as you pointed out, there is a 1/2″ Lisle.
