A few days ago we posted about how to use a nail puller to remove large nails. After that, we received subtle nudges to take a look at two rather unique nail puller designs – the Nail Jack and Nail Hunter. Here’s a quick look at them:

Nail Jack Nail Puller

Nail Jack Nail Removal Tool

The Nail Jack looks like a pair of oversized diagonal cutters that have been bent out of shape by the Incredible Hulk. It definitely looks to offer better gripping ability than a standard fixed-jaw nail puller, and features a hammer tap zone if you need a little help getting the tool around larger or deeply driven nails.

The Nail Hunter has a more pointed jaw, and can be used for more precise nail pulling than the Nail Jack. From usage example videos, it looks like the Nail Hunter is a far better choice for smaller fasteners and for reducing the amount of surface damage created when removing nails.

I own their Staple Jack staple remover, and that thing works great. So I’m betting these work pretty well too.

The Nail Jack products – Original , Hunter or Pro versions, were can they be purchase? It seems everyone is out of stock. Amazon, Rockler, Duluth and others all say no longer available, out of stock or not sure when they will have them again or if they will.
Has the company closed or something?
I’d like to purchase one or possibly two if I can locate a source.
    Thank You!

The Nail Hunter is back. Lee Valley lists it under “What’s New” now:

    Disappointing tool
    Worked great at first.
I actually bent the jaws after a few years of use.
The jaws were blunted and couldn’t get a good grip on the nails anymore.
Tool should last more than 3 years
Lee valley replaced with stock they had but said they won’t be carrying it anymore.
