New Gator Black Zirconium Sandpaper

Gator’s new Black Zirconium Ultra Power sandpaper utilizes a special grit composition that allows it to “sand three times faster and last three times longer than regular sandpaper.” These cutting and longevity improvements can be appreciated by everyone, from the DIY woodworker, to the professional in a production environment.

Gator’s new special grit is composed of black zirconium oxide, a ceramic diamond simulant, which is incredibly sharp, incredibly hard, and incredibly durable – much moreso than standard aluminum oxide sandpaper grits.

To help maximize the potential of the zirconia grit, Gator’s Ultra Power sandpaper is constructed from heavyweight paper for discs and sheets, or heavy duty cloth for belts. Discs and sheets are also given a special coating to reduce material loading, thus further increasing their durability.

Black Zirconium sanding products can be used on a wide range of materials, such as wood, metals, fiberglass, and painted surfaces.

Gator Finishing’s new Black Zirconium products are now availabe in many sizes and styles and can be found at home centers, and hardware stores. At the moment, these new products do not seem to be available online yet.

Random Factoid: Zirconium is an element, and zirconium oxide is typically shortened as zirconia, not “zirconium.” Black zirconia is often tougher and more durable than typical white zirconia, and there is of course the transparent phase of cubic zirconia.
