New Husky Tool Storage at Home Depot

We recently spotted (and examined) Husky’s new 36″ stainless steel tool storage units over at Home Depot. These new toolboxes are sure to turn some heads over the next few weeks as shoppers pour into stores looking for memorable holiday gifts.

Husky’s main selling point is that their new cabinets have greater storage capacity than competitors’ models. Inch for inch, Husky offers more cubic storage than the competition. While this may be true, quite frankly we sometimes don’t care as much about storage volume as we do drawer surface area.

At first, it looked as though Husky’s new toolboxes were identical to Kobalt’s. However, although they share a few similarities, closer examination reveals quite a few distinct cosmetic and functional differences.

Next time you’re at Home Depot, check out the new Husky chest and cabinet, and tell us what you think. Personally, we would probably favor Kobalt’s 41″ 20-drawer combo for about $160 more (although you know we’d find a way to buy it on sale!), over Husky’s new 36″ 10-drawer combo. The 5-drawer chest and 5-drawer cabinet will set you back a total of $750 plus tax.

The in-store and online price is the same, and if you order online, shipping is included. This is good to hear as shipping two 150lb boxes isn’t exactly cheap.

If these links don’t work, head over to Home Depot’s site and search for “Husky tool storage”.
(P.S., if you happen to be a Husky manager, we totally didn’t mean what we said about favoring Kobalt’s toolbox more. Just to be sure, maybe you should send a combo unit over to us just so that we can be sure. =)

At first I also thought it was the same as the Kobalt box.

Did you see that other Husky top and bottom box? It is mostly black, but the drawers are gray. They came out with it last year and I was surprised to see it again this year. I think it’s $300 for the combo, which is pretty cheap.

I believe I did see it, but it didn’t seem all that special. I was more intrigued by the above Husky, and thus snapped a photo. At the time I was curious to see if it was identical to Kobalt’s toolbox styling, but after examining both, it is noticeably distinct.

It is likely that this was their intent – to create a style similar to Kobalt’s, but with a few elements designed to make it better.

I bought both lower and top cabinets wich satisfy me plenty.
Maybe one bug wich is that all drawer’s handles have a finishing cap at each end and these kept comming out until I glued them.
Does someone knows where to buy new ones to replace the lost ones?

    Thank You.
