PortaMate Mega Vise

The PortaMate Mega Vise II work support, PM7060, is on clearance at Woodcraft for $50. If it looks familiar, that’s because the Mega Vise II is seemingly identical to the Triton SuperJaws and its various rebranded clones.

  • Over 1-ton clamping force
  • Can support workpieces up to 37-1/2″ wide
  • Hands free foot-operated clamp
  • Folds up for storage and transport
  • Maximum load of 220 lbs

Fact Sheet (PDF via PortaMate)

$50 with $9 shipping is a pretty darn good price. I don’t think I have ever seen any of these portable vises below the $99 price point.

Craftsman Portable Job Vise
Ridgid SuperClamp

Double your order and shipping is still just $10. One for me and one for Dad.

There have always been deal posts here and there, but there will inevitably be more deal posts during the winter holiday shopping season. In addition to readers asking for more tool deals this time of year, I am more active in searching out tool deals for myself.

Rest assured that there are many reviews and new tool previews on the way. =)

Man, literally just received the Rigid version of this in the mail the day you posted. Happy I got to see the construction of the piece, it really seems well built and hopefully a upgrade to my staging and working methods.
Needless to say returning the Rigid one and bought two for $10 cheaper!

Mine just arrived and except for the plastic lock/unlock switch, It’s really well made. It will come in real handy with a side job i’m starting in January that i just ordered another one. The only real negative is that it doesn’t have an extended arm (43″), like the Craftsman, to hold a sheet of plywood.

      48″ arm, not 43″

the manual indicates that there is an “extension piece” that clamps onto the moving jaw. The maximum material that you can clamp become 55 1/2″. The manual does not give a part number or indicate that the extension piece is included or not (i don’t think it is). Anyone have any idea where to get the extension piece?

I don’t think I have ever seen the extension piece sold separately, and the Craftsman model is the only one I have seen that comes with one.

I just talked with Portamate, the extension piece is PM7061 and available from them at $50 + shipping. Of course that is the price paid to “Woodcraft for the entire tool. Hopefully the extensions will show up on line s omewhere, the young Lady at Portamate thought they were on Amazon but could not find them. Please let me know if any of you hear differently.

I bought the rockwell non-folding arm for $25 on ebay. I’ll see if it works next week when it arrives.

The rockwell arm will not work on the portamate. Lowes is currently selling the the first and 2nd generation jawhorse for $120.

Thanks Stuey! Mine arrived a couple of days ago, and it’s a really good tool… better quality than I expected for $50. I had always admired the Jawhorse, but probably would never have paid $150+ for it…now I don’t have to!

I bought the 7060 mega-vise and am pretty happy with it except I melted the first pair of jobs doing a welding job. Anyone know where I can get another set of the urethane jaws?
