Porter Cable 18V ClampSaw

Porter Cable’s 12V ClampSaw is an unusual-looking reciprocating saw, but it fared quite well in our tests. Dewalt recently came out with a similar non-clamping 12V pivoting saw, and it too has been performing well. Coming up next, an 18V version of the ClampSaw.

The new 18V Porter Cable ClampSaw, model PCC475B, features a bump-up in power, cutting speed, and performance. As with the 12V version, the clamping shoe makes it very useful for cutting materials such as pipes, struts, threaded rod, and rebar.

I bought one of the PC 12V saws as a gift – and the recipeint (a professional installer) likes it quite a bit. From my perspective, however, there is nothing like a portable bandsaw for cutting strut – and unless you have need for a dedicated rebar cutter (we have a BN #8) the bansaw works well for small rebar jobs too.

Really glad to see PC continually expanding their product line, glad that I am not regretting buying into their system. Not sure that I really have a use for this saw, but I’d definitely pick it up if I find a good sale on one!
