Ryobi Auto Hammer $20 at Home Depot

Home Depot is having a “Spring Cyber Monday” online-only sale today. As part of their sale, Home Depot is selling Ryobi’s Auto Hammer for an obscenely low $20. We reviewed the Auto Hammer a few months ago, and had some mixed feelings about.

At $20 (plus shipping), the Auto Hammer now costs less than a good manual framing hammer, which makes me wonder… why is Home Depot unloading these tools now well ahead of Father’s Day?

Well, that deal didn’t last. Online only, and it’s no longer available as of 12:55pm.

IIRC at my local store they were selling a combo that included the auto hammer and a drill using the same 12V system. I think it was $60 and I thought it was a good deal. I didn’t buy it, however.

That’s too bad it’s already sold out. I checked much earlier this morning; it was still in stock and I was able to add it to my cart, but I still didn’t end up buying it.

Sorry about that. I posted as early as I could, but it looks like it sold out very quickly before lunchtime. Perhaps Home Depot capped the number of units that could be sold at that price?

$59 isn’t a bad price, especially compared to the Craftsman version, but for $20-30 shipped Ryobi 12V tool users probably bought one or two sets each just for the extra batteries.

I do remember the special driver+hammer promo from a few weeks ago, but I think that was short lived as well.

Don’t feel bad…. I responded to this offer as soon as it came out, and had a confirmed order number. Today, I received an email that all orders were canceled!!! And it doesn’t appear on their website! Why offer a deal you don’t intend to fill???

All orders were cancelled? Why would they do that? Unless they fulfilled some orders and then ran out of stock/their allotment.

Home Depot has also been known to fill orders in a random order. Back when there were Dewalt power tools on clearance at HD, some early orders were cancelled while later ones were fulfilled.

I hope that this was just a matter of poor inventory management. If Home Depot instead cancelled orders in hopes that they can sell the tools at a higher price to Father’s Day shoppers, then that’s a very crummy move.

I got an email from Home Depot. The combo kit, including the hammer and drill is $69 (with free shipping over $249)

They had that kit available for the same price exactly two months ago. As I said at the time, $69 is a heck of a good price for what you’re getting, but bear in mind that the drill/driver is grossly underpowered. Going by specs alone, it looks to provide one third of the torque Bosch’s new PS21 can output.
